About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Data Product Management Director to lead the data transformation that will support the next generation of payments. This role sits at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data, payments, liquidity, and digital currencies. The data foundation this leader builds will determine how effectively the business can use artificial intelligence in production and how quickly it can bring new payment and digital asset capabilities to market.
This is a transformational leadership role. The successful candidate will define and execute a multi-year data strategy, modernize the platforms and pipelines that support the business, and align a broad group of stakeholders behind a practical delivery plan. We are looking for a leader with a growth mindset who is comfortable with ambiguity, learns quickly, and is motivated by changing how the work gets done rather than optimizing the current state.
In this role, you will:
Manage and develop two or more specialized teams of managers and professional individual contributors responsible for complex, higher-risk data productization and enablement outcomes
Define and lead a multi-year data transformation strategy for payments, sequencing the work into practical phases that deliver measurable value while adapting to changing business priorities and technology
Establish the vision, roadmap, and implementation strategy for data products, platforms, and utility services across multiple data domains
Build the trusted, governed, and well-documented data foundation required for artificial intelligence models, agents, analytics, and other production use cases
Modernize the data estate by connecting traditional enterprise data warehouses, relational databases, and data integration capabilities with modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake and Databricks
Identify data enablement opportunities across multiple domains and platforms while ensuring alignment with enterprise data governance, risk, and control standards
Partner with product, technology, operations, data, risk, and control leaders across payments, liquidity, and digital currencies to translate business priorities into a concrete, fundable data roadmap
Align senior leaders and diverse stakeholder groups behind a single plan, build the case for change, resolve complex issues, and sustain commitment through multi-year delivery
Make strategic decisions, manage dependencies, and establish policies and procedures needed to deliver complex, higher-risk data outcomes
Communicate the value, capabilities, use cases, and delivery progress of the data agenda to senior leadership and cross-functional partners
Manage people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and aligned with the strategic objectives of the business
Develop leaders and cultivate a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and talent development
Position the data strategy to help the business respond to advances in artificial intelligence and innovation in payments and digital currencies quickly, responsibly, and safely
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of data product or data management or leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
4+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
Proven track record leading large-scale data transformation programs end to end, from strategy and business case through delivery, adoption, and measurable outcomes, in complex and highly regulated environments
Experience building and executing complex multi-year plans, including sequencing work, managing dependencies, adapting to shifting priorities, and delivering value at each stage
Demonstrated ability to align senior leaders and diverse stakeholder groups behind a shared agenda across business, product, technology, operations, data, risk, and control functions
Deep knowledge of data technologies across traditional and modern environments, including enterprise data warehouses, relational databases, ETL and data integration tooling, Snowflake, and Databricks
Working knowledge of the data foundations required for artificial intelligence in production, including data quality, lineage, metadata, governance, documentation, monitoring, and the data requirements of models and agents
Experience defining and delivering data products, platform capabilities, and reusable data services for multiple business and technical consumers
Experience in payments, liquidity, transaction banking, digital currencies, or digital assets, including familiarity with the data generated by these businesses
Ability to translate a complex technical agenda into clear business outcomes, investment priorities, delivery decisions, and risk considerations
Ability to establish credibility and influence effectively with senior executives, engineering leaders, data professionals, and control partners
Management consulting experience at a leading firm, or comparable experience leading enterprise transformation within a large institution
Demonstrated success developing leaders, managing multidisciplinary teams, and creating accountability across a complex delivery organization
Job Expectations:
Operate as a transformational leader by setting an ambitious but executable agenda, building the coalition behind it, and holding the organization accountable for delivery
Bring a growth mindset and develop it in others as artificial intelligence, data technology, and the payments landscape continue to evolve
Stay current on developments in artificial intelligence, payments, liquidity, and digital currencies, and translate relevant developments into implications for the data strategy
Partner closely with technology, risk, data governance, and control functions so that delivery speed and the bank's standards advance together
Maintain clear ownership of the data roadmap, investment priorities, delivery dependencies, and measurable outcomes across the transformation
