Welcome to Careeronaut. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Careeronaut website at careeronaut.com and all related services (collectively, the "Service"), operated by Careeronaut ("we," "us," or "our"). Please read these Terms carefully before using the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using any part of the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the Service.

You must be at least 16 years old to use Careeronaut. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement.

2. Account Registration

To access most features of the Service, you must create an account. When you do, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
• Keep your login credentials secure and confidential. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• Notify us promptly at hello@careeronaut.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

We reserve the right to refuse registration or cancel accounts at our discretion, particularly if we believe information provided is inaccurate or the account is being used in violation of these Terms.

3. Service Description

Careeronaut is an AI-powered resume and cover letter builder. The Service allows you to create, edit, format, and export professional career documents using a variety of templates and tools.

We offer two tiers of service:

• Free tier: Basic resume building with access to a limited selection of templates. No payment required.
• Explorer tier (paid): Full access to AI-powered writing features, all templates, cover letter tools, and priority support.

We may modify, add, or remove features at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes that affect paid features.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

The Explorer tier is offered as a monthly subscription. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your credit card information on our servers.

• Billing cycle: Your subscription begins on the date you subscribe and automatically renews each month unless cancelled.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access to Explorer features until then.
• No partial refunds: We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. If you cancel mid-cycle, you will not be charged for the next period, but no refund will be issued for time remaining in the current period.
• Price changes: We may change subscription pricing with at least 30 days' notice. Price changes will take effect at the start of your next billing period after the notice.

5. Content Ownership

Your content belongs to you. You retain all intellectual property rights to the resumes, cover letters, and other content you create using Careeronaut. We do not claim ownership over any of your content.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing and improving the Service. This license ends when you delete your content or your account.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy and truthfulness of the information you include in your resumes and cover letters.

6. AI Features and Disclaimer

Careeronaut uses artificial intelligence (powered by Anthropic Claude) to provide writing suggestions, content improvements, and other AI-assisted features. By using these features, you acknowledge and agree that:

• AI-generated suggestions are provided as-is and are intended as a starting point. You should always review, edit, and verify any AI-generated content before using it.
• AI suggestions may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate for your specific situation.
• We do not guarantee the quality, accuracy, or suitability of any AI-generated content.
• You are solely responsible for the final content of your documents and any decisions made based on AI suggestions.
• Your content may be sent to our AI provider for processing. This data is not used to train AI models and is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

7. No Employment Guarantee

Careeronaut is a tool to help you create professional career documents. We do not guarantee that using the Service will result in job interviews, job offers, or employment of any kind. Hiring decisions are made by employers based on many factors beyond the scope of this Service.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Create fraudulent, misleading, or deliberately deceptive documents.
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your qualifications.
• Engage in any illegal activity.
• Abuse, overload, or interfere with the Service or its infrastructure.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Service beyond normal use.
• Use automated tools (bots, scripts) to access the Service without our written permission.
• Share your account credentials with others or operate multiple free accounts to circumvent limitations.

9. Termination

By you: You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. When you delete your account, all of your data -- including resumes, cover letters, and personal information -- will be permanently removed from our systems. This action cannot be undone.

By us: We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in abusive behavior, or if required to do so by law. Where possible, we will provide notice and an opportunity to export your data before termination.

Upon termination, your right to access the Service ends immediately. Sections of these Terms that are intended to survive termination (such as content ownership, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will remain in effect.

10. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Careeronaut and its officers, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data or content.
• Lost job opportunities, interviews, or employment prospects.
• Service interruptions or downtime.
• Any errors or inaccuracies in AI-generated content.

In no event shall our total liability to you exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Careeronaut and its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Intellectual Property

The Careeronaut name, logo, website design, templates, and all other Service materials (excluding your content) are owned by Careeronaut and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our materials without our written permission.

Resume and cover letter templates are licensed for your personal use through the Service. You may not redistribute, resell, or sublicense templates separately from the documents you create.

13. Service Availability

We strive to keep Careeronaut available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may perform scheduled maintenance, deploy updates, or experience outages that temporarily affect availability. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience resulting from downtime.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and notify you via email or through a notice on the Service.

Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
