Our client is seeking an experienced Mining Mechanical Engineer to support underground mine operations by planning, maintaining, and optimizing critical infrastructure systems, including power distribution, ventilation, water management, compressed air, and drainage. This role ensures safe, reliability, and efficient operation of mine services through engineering analysis, system design, and cross‑department collaboration.

The engineer will develop short, mid, and long‑range plans for essential underground systems, conduct technical evaluations, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The position requires strong analytical skills, underground ventilation experience, and the ability to manage complex mechanical and electrical systems in an active mining environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform additional engineering duties as assigned.
  • Regulatory Awareness — Working knowledge of MSHA regulations preferred; training available.
  • Ventilation & Airflow — Oversee ventilation fans and networks to maintain safe airflow; conduct monthly ventilation surveys.
  • Compressed Air Systems — Manage pipeline networks delivering compressed air for pneumatic tools and drilling operations.
  • Engineering Analysis — Perform system modeling, evaluate performance, and produce technical reports with recommendations.
  • Power Distribution — Manage high‑voltage electrical networks, substations, and backup generators for surface and underground equipment.
  • Cross‑functional Collaboration — Work with operations, maintenance, and technical services teams to support safe and efficient mine operations.
  • Water & Drainage Systems — Design and maintain underground pumping networks to remove, recycle, and manage groundwater and production water.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Underground ventilation experience (must‑have)
  • Strong engineering analysis and technical report writing skills.
  • Proficiency in English; strong communication and critical‑thinking abilities.
  • 5–7 years of experience in underground mining or heavy industrial engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, or mining engineering (preferred)
  • Experience with mine infrastructure systems: power, pumping, drainage, compressed air.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Deswik or Ventsim.
  • Working knowledge of MSHA regulations.
  • Prior experience in underground mine operations or complex industrial facilities.
