The Global Senior Marketing Director, Perioperative will have responsibility for global results and will focus his/her efforts on developing and driving global strategies, operational excellence, delivery of high quality and high economic value products and services, and growing revenue and market share for the Acute Care and Monitoring business (ACM). An important aspect of this position will be to help develop the product strategy for growing the business and expanding the market. This Marketing Leader will work closely with functional leadership and will be comfortable participating and leading in a heavily matrixed environment. This individual will need to have a proven track record of success and will be responsible for enhancing and driving the organization’s ability to meet its business goals and objectives by delivering unique, value-added, and integrated solutions.
The success of the Senior Marketing Director will be measured in his/her ability to help grow sales and market share, continue to drive a higher level of operational excellence that creates a competitive market advantage, and help develop an overall strategy and implementation plan that maintains the division’s market leadership position and continues to distance the organization from its competitors.
A Day in the Life
- Global Results: Lead cross-functional leadership team to deliver annual revenue and profitability goals. Institute and oversee programs to consistently improve quality, effectiveness, and economic value of operations and service delivery. Gain a thorough understanding of the cost structure and drivers of the business and identify initiatives and programs to continue to improve and enhance profitability.
- Global Leadership: Build and execute comprehensive global marketing plans to deliver the Annual Operating Plan and financial business objectives for the strategic planning period. Develop global platform promotional strategies, launch materials, sales support tools, and educational aids etc. that allow regions to grow market-share and penetrate the market.
- Portfolio Management and Health: Collaborate with regional markets on obtaining forecasts for strategic planning and new product launches, establishing, and implementing product rationalization strategies, and engaging in BDL activities. Evaluate market trends, financial analysis, pricing and changing customer habits to inform downstream execution of growth initiatives.
- Market Development: Develop comprehensive plans for patient access acceleration, including segmentation and opportunity assessment, identification of key barriers and tactics to resolve, financial models/ROI, and actions plans for execution and measures of progress.
- Regional Engagement: Provide strategic market guidance, including pricing and product positioning guidance to regional partners to deliver growth and healthy financial performance. Drive partnership and alignment on local campaigns that advance critical technology and procedural adoption.
- Represent Customer Voice: Capture and communicate customer habits and business intelligence to provide required marketing inputs to the fit / form / function of our current and future products. Provide feedback and insight on the commercial sell-ability of innovation ideas in the New Product Development process as well as the regional voice for programs that pursue reducing standard cost, labeling & packaging changes, IFU indications, etc.
- Team Development: Will be responsible for investing in and developing the key marketing talent that will grow into our marketing leaders of tomorrow. This leader will encourage the pursuit of IDP’s, monitoring progress and providing feedback, while also working side by side in the functional and technical skill development of their employees. They will embrace creativity, diversity of every manner, and provide the opportunity for smart risk taking.
- Global Travel approximately 35%
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 15 years (13+ with a graduate degree) of demonstrated success commercializing innovative products and growing markets in medical device marketing or related functions of sales or business development) and 10+ years of demonstrated success in team leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, R&D or similar, MBA preferred
- Business Development and Licensing experience
- Bilingual
- 5+ Years of Director / Senior Director level experience
- Track record of driving results in downstream marketing capacities
- Demonstrated achievement of business goals
- Demonstrated ability to learn technical information and apply technical concepts
- Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in a matrix organization
- High level of financial acumen, forecasting and budget management
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning
- Strong understanding of clinical practices and product performance
- Strong analytical skills to analyze and complete financial/profitability analysis, project sales forecasts, and quantitative market segmentation models
- Highly effective verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively coach and lead others
- Recognize the importance of building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships
- Excellent IT skills, including all Microsoft packages

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
