Job Overview

The Macy’s Santaland Wig staff oversees the maintenance and appearance of theatrical facial hair and wigs of all Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus performers.  This role supports performers with applying wigs and facial hair as needed throughout the season. 

What You Will Do 

• Assigning and fitting each Santa performer with a wig and facial hair set prior to the start of the season.
• Maintaining wigs/facial hair appliance supply and requesting additional resources as needed
• Cleaning/styling wig and facial hair inventories throughout the operational season
• Preparing wig room for opening and closing/storage
• Daily setting/restyling of wigs/facial hair appliances in preparation for next day
• Oversight and approval of the appearance of all wigs and facial hair to ensure highest quality appearance expectations are being met and maintained throughout each day.
• Excellent communication with daily staff and management team to provide feedback and instructions on maintaining proper appearance and costume guidelines.

Skills You Will Need

Communication Skills:

• Knowledge of a second language helpful
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Mathematical Skills:

• Basic math functions are necessary: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability: 

• Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to multitask and maintain a positive demeanor in a fast paced environment.
• Present a professional image and exemplary personal hygiene consistent with Macy's brand values.
• Communicate in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Other Skills:

• Knowledge of wig repair, cleaning and resetting.
• Knowledge of ventilating a plus
• Basic hand sewing skills
• Ability to maintain the high standard of appearance for all Santaland wigs

Who You Are

Education/Experience:

• Synthetic Wig and lace back facial hair styling experience and/or education required

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged standing or sitting may be required.
• Must be able to lift or push/pull 30 lbs. as needed for storage and inventory purposes

Work Hours:

• Flexible with scheduling and available to work retail hours which may include day, evening, weekends and/or holidays
• Schedule must work in conjunction with other wig team members
