Job Overview

The Macy’s Santaland Costume Staff oversees the wardrobe inventory for all performers in the Santaland attraction and makes necessary repairs and alternations as needed to keep the production looking clean and fresh. The costume staff ensures all costume guidelines and appearance expectations are met by all costumed characters throughout the attraction.

What You Will Do

• Assigning and fitting each staff member with a costume prior to the start of the season.
• Organizing and maintaining costume inventories throughout the operational season.
• Preparing costumes and costuming areas for opening and closing/storage. 
• Managing the laundry and the relationship with the laundry vendor.
• Tend to all costume repairs and alterations, supply replenishment, and distribution needs.
• Oversight of the appearance of all costumed characters throughout the attraction to ensure highest quality appearance expectations are being met and maintained throughout each day.
• Excellent communication with daily staff and management team to provide feedback and instructions on maintaining proper appearance and costume guidelines. 

Skills You Will Need

Communication Skills:

• Knowledge of a second language helpful
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Mathematical Skills:

• Basic math functions are necessary: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Reasoning Ability: 

• Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must be able to multitask and maintain a positive demeanor in a fast paced environment
• Present a professional image and exemplary personal hygiene consistent with Macy's brand values
• Communicate in a positive and professional manner at all times

Other Skills:

• Knowledge of sizing, costume alterations, and cleaning
• Basic hand sewing skills.  Sewing machine operational skills
• Patterning and costume construction
• Ability to maintain the high standard of appearance for all Santaland costumes 

Who You Are

Education/Experience:

• Theatrical costuming or wardrobe experience and/or education required

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged sitting or standing may be required
• Must be able to lift or push/pull 30 lbs. as needed for storage and inventory purposes

Work Hours:

• Flexible with scheduling and available to work retail hours which may include day, evening, weekends and/or holidays
• Schedule must work in conjunction with other costume team members
