Job Overview

The Macy’s Santaland Elf position is the ambassador of Santa Claus charged with helping to spread cheer and goodwill among guests while also performing operational duties for the attraction.  This position is responsible for customer service, entertainment, and crowd control throughout the Macy’s Santaland attraction.   Performers must pass background checks and commit to potential work on evenings and weekends during the holiday season.

What You Will Do

• Customer Service:
  • Greet Macy’s Santaland guests with consistent cheerful and holiday disposition
  • Answer questions from visitors throughout the attraction
  • Always maintain a cheerful, upbeat demeanor while working in the attraction in front of guests
  • Maintain secular conversations with guests
• Entertainment:
  • Always be in Elf costume or uniform (provided by Macy’s)
  • Always remain in character
  • Memorize and perform light scripted dialogue that pertains to various areas throughout the attraction
• Crowd Management:
  • Assist with crowd control while maintaining a cheerful disposition
• Entertain guests while waiting in queue lines- Santa Visit Management:
  • Direct and expedite guest photo visits with Santa
  • Work with photography staff and Santa to ensure a quick, high quality photo-session is achieved with each visit
  • Assist Santa between visits to prepare for next guest
  • Operate Village computerized cueing system 
• Perform other duties as needed

Skills You Will Need

Communication Skills:

• Knowledge of a second language helpful
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with and direct children
• Second language/ ASL a plus

Mathematical Skills:

• Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Reasoning Ability: 

• Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment
• Present a professional image consistent with Macy's brand values

• Ability to engage and entertain children

• Must be comfortable working in crowded areas and confined spaces

   

Who You Are

Education/Experience:

• Crowd control experience with both adults and children required
• Customer service experience required
• Performer experience preferred 

Physical Demands:

• May involve prolonged standing and walking 
• May involve lifting heavy objects 50lbs+ including small children

Work Hours:

• Flexible with scheduling and available to work retail hours which may include day, evening, weekends and/or holidays or sales events depending on business needs
• Schedule must work in conjunction with other Santa team members
