Job Overview

Mrs. Claus is a critical character of the Macy’s Santaland experience and one of Macy’s primary holiday ambassadors to the public during the Holiday Season.  Mrs. Claus is expected to cheerfully greet and entertain all Santaland guests as they make their way through the attraction.  Performers must pass background checks and commit to work on evenings and weekends during the holiday season.

What You Will Do 

• Customer Service:
  • Welcome and greet guests entering the area in which Mrs. Claus will reside in the attraction
  • Answer questions from visitors in the attraction
  • Always maintain a cheerful, upbeat demeanor while working in the attraction in front of guests
  • Maintain secular conversations with guests
• Entertainment:
  • Always be in Mrs. Claus costume or uniform (provided by Macy’s)
  • Apply make-up and/or wig per Macy’s direction
  • Always remain in character
  • Memorize and perform light scripted dialogue that pertains to the Mrs. Claus character
  • Pose for photographs with guests
• Crowd Management:
  • Work with Santaland support staff to ensure crowds are moving at an appropriate pace through the attraction while enjoying the entertainment throughout

Skills You Will Need

Communication Skills:

• Knowledge of a second language helpful
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Second language/ ASL a plus

Mathematical Skills:

• Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division

Reasoning Ability: 

• Must have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment
• Present a professional image consistent with Macy's brand values

Other Skills:

• High level of positive energy required

Who You Are

Education/Experience:

• Theatrical, acting and/or performance arts experience required
• Exceptional customer service skills required

Physical Demands:

• Prolonged standing and walking required

Work Hours:

• Flexible with scheduling and available to work retail hours which may include day, evening, weekends and/or holidays
