Summary
This internship opportunity is located within the Office of the Clerk of the Court at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. The Superior Court of the District of Columbia is the trial court and is responsible for resolving a broad range of legal matters, including civil, criminal, family, domestic violence, probate, tax, landlord and tenant, and other cases affecting individuals, families, and communities throughout the District. This internship is for Fall / Winter 2026.
Duties
The Clerk of the Superior Court has an internship opportunity. They manage the Court's non-judicial employees, administrative functions, and day-to-day operations across the divisions under the Clerk's authority. These divisions include the Civil Division, Court Social Services Division, Criminal Division, Domestic Violence Division, Family Court Operations Division, Multi-Door Dispute Resolution Division, Special Operations Division, Tax Division, Crime Victims Compensation Program, and the Office of the Auditor Master. This position is an unpaid internship. The intern's major duties are below: Observe and assist the Office of the Clerk of the Court with administrative functions and day-to-day operations of all divisions under the authority of the Clerk of the Court. Observe and assist the Judicial Support Unit with administrative functions related to judicial chambers management. Assist with the organization, tracking, and maintenance of physical and digital documents and records. Assist with providing customer service support, including responding to telephone calls and assisting members of the public with general inquiries. Observe and assist with data management initiatives, reporting projects, and case management activities. Assist with general administrative tasks and special projects that support court operations.
Requirements
Background and security investigation are required. Must be at least 18 years old. Must commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week. The incumbent should be an enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of Court personnel and customers and lives the DC Courts' values of Accountability, Excellence, Fairness, Integrity, Respect, and Transparency.

Education

DC Courts' appropriation comes directly from Congress.
