Job Description

TheĀ Capital & Inventory Controller is responsible for the financial oversight, reporting, analysis, and control of the Charleston Plant's inventory and capital assets for the VM division, ensuring accurate valuation, proper accounting treatment, and compliance with company policies and IFRS.Ā 

Working closely with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, the Controller provides financial insights and analysis that support effective asset management, strong internal controls, operational performance, and informed business decisions. Through proactive monitoring, issue resolution, and continuous process improvement, this position helps maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial records while identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, accountability, and financial performance.

Capital Expenditure ControllingĀ 

  • Lead the end-to-end capital expenditure (CAPEX) controlling process for the division, ensuring effective financial planning, monitoring, reporting, and governance of capital investments.
  • Manage the accounting and financial reporting of capital assets, including project capitalization, asset-in-service tracking, fixed asset records, month-end close activities, and compliance with company policies and IFRS.
  • Monitor capital project performance against approved authorizations, budgets, and forecasts; analyze variances, identify risks and opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations to management.
  • Develop capital expenditure forecasts, annual budgets, and long-range investment plans to divisional objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in capital planning, reporting, and internal control processes while supporting audit requirements and ensuring compliance with corporate governance standards.

Inventory Controlling

  • Lead all inventory controlling activities for the VM division, ensuring accurate valuation, financial reporting, reconciliation, and compliance with company policies and IFRS.
  • Manage inventory accounting and month-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting related to inventory balances, reserves, obsolescence, and working capital.
  • Monitor inventory performance and analyze financial variances affecting cash flow, balance sheet accuracy, and asset utilization, providing actionable recommendations to management.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Operations teams to improve inventory accuracy, optimize working capital, and support operational planning and decision-making.
  • Support physical inventory counts, cycle count programs, and inventory audit activities while maintaining strong internal controls and data integrity.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory processes, reporting accuracy, cost performance, and inventory optimization.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business AdministrationĀ or related field required.
  • MBA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification a plus.

Experience

  • 2+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing finance, controlling, FP&A, or accounting.
  • Experience with capital expenditure management and inventory accounting withinĀ manufacturing.
  • ComprehensiveĀ understanding of manufacturing operations, cost accounting andĀ financial reporting processes.
  • Experience supporting month-end close and financial analysis activities.
  • Experience working with ERP and reporting systems such as SAP, Hyperion Essbase, etc
