Humana is seeking an intern for our Finance & Accounting Rotational Internship Program, with the first rotation beginning in either late September or early October 2026. This program is designed for students eager to apply their academic experience in a dynamic, real-world business environment and gain exposure to multiple areas within Finance and Accounting.

As a Finance & Accounting intern, you will rotate through various departmentsĀ approximately everyĀ six monthsĀ within the organization, taking on a variety of assignments such as creating financial transactions, analyzing financial data, and communicating financial information to associates and leadership.Ā Ā 

This opportunity requires candidates to be within a daily commutable distance of Louisville, KY, year-round due to an in-office work requirement.Ā

Program Highlights:Ā 

  • Immerse yourself in a dynamic, year-round part-time internship based in Louisville, KYĀ 

  • Gain broad professional experience through department rotations every six months—beginning each January and JuneĀ 

  • Build yourĀ expertiseĀ by working alongside leaders in key financial divisions, including (but not limited to) Accounts Payable, Corporate Accounting, Internal Audit, Financial Operations, Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax, and Treasury

Responsibilities:Ā 

  • Spearhead comprehensive account reconciliations to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data across multiple business unitsĀ 

  • Conduct in-depth variance analyses,Ā providingĀ critical insights that drive strategic decision-making and financial optimizationĀ 

  • Develop andĀ maintainĀ complex tax schedules, supporting robust compliance and proactive tax planning initiativesĀ 

  • Prepare and post precise monthly journal entries, underpinningĀ accurateĀ andĀ timelyĀ financial close processesĀ 

  • Manage end-to-end accounts payable operations, streamlining workflows and strengthening supplier relationshipsĀ 

  • Participate in audit walkthroughs and perform rigorous control testing to uphold internal controls and support successful audit outcomesĀ 

  • Design and analyze advanced spreadsheets, transforming data into actionable intelligence for cross-functional teamsĀ 

Required QualificationsĀ 

  • Must have an expected graduation date ofĀ DecemberĀ 2027Ā or later to ensure eligibility to complete at least one year in the internship program.Ā 

  • CurrentlyĀ pursuing an undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting, or a related graduate-level business degree/certificate (such as MBAĀ orĀ MAcc)Ā 

  • Must be enrolled in 9+ credit hours per semester for undergraduate or 6+ credit hours for graduateĀ 

  • Maintain a cumulative and Finance/Accounting GPA of 3.0 or better throughout the programĀ 

  • Must have completed an intermediate Finance and/orĀ AccountingĀ courseĀ 

  • Must be available to start the programĀ in September or OctoberĀ 2026, andĀ participateĀ year-round, rotating through departments for at least one year.Ā 

  • Ability to work 20-25 hours per week year-round in Louisville, KYĀ 

  • MustĀ resideĀ within a daily commutable distance to the Louisville office for the duration of the programĀ 

Preferred QualificationsĀ 

  • PreviousĀ internship or work experience inĀ Finance,Ā Accounting, or a related business fieldĀ 

  • Completion of advanced coursework inĀ Finance,Ā Accounting, orĀ BusinessĀ AnalyticsĀ 

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities through extracurricular activities, student organizations, or part-time workĀ 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skillsĀ 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilitiesĀ 

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a teamĀ 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Microsoft ExcelĀ 

  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to balance school and work assignmentsĀ 

  • Enthusiasm for working in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentĀ

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
