The Facilities & Maintenance Technician is responsible maintaining:

  • All facility systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire, access control, security, material handling equipment, ladders, structural, company vehicles, and grounds to ensure proper operation is maintained.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performs and/or coordinates repairs and preventive maintenance according to procedures on building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire, access control, security, material handling equipment, ladders, structural, company vehicles, and grounds to ensure proper operation is maintained.

  • Assists in the Scheduled Activity Log (SAL) for preventative maintenance activities.
  • Assists in the Maintenance Request Log (MR) for reported maintenance issues.
  • Maintains consistent temperature and humidity levels throughout the facilities.
  • Assembles and disassembles office furniture as necessary.
  • Assists in all recycling and scrap handling activities according to policies & procedures.
  • Assists with the reports on access control to Finance and IT.
o    Generates detailed records and reports as required
  • Helps manage contact with outside service providers.
  • Procures parts and facility materials.
o    Complete special projects as assigned. 
  • Performs maintenance duties to ensure facility is safe, welcoming, and of high quality.
o    Other duties as assigned
  • Assists in Pure Safety Management
o    Responsible for assisting in safety including management of Pure Safety database.
  • Pure Safety training reports – gathering data and providing reports to managers.
o    Assists with contract with Pure Safety service as needs change. 
o    Evaluates continuous and potential training needs for employees.
 
  • Assists in Business Continuity Plan Management (BCP):
  • Review, update, and maintain BCP as required.
  • BCP Audits/Reviews/Testing
  • Maintain BCP Employee Emergency List
  • BCP Briefing New Staff with Responsibilities
 
  • Assist in Safety Team Management:
  • Assists with Watertown Safety Team.
  • Liaison to Fire Department, Police Department, security monitoring service, and other outside agencies.
o    Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to safety.
o    Assist with all OSHA-related compliance, inquiries, and complaints.
o    Regularly review and be familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards to ensure compliance.
o    Ensure that all safety incidents are reported immediately to HR and other interested parties.
o    Work with Human Resources to ensure any incidents resulting in personal injury are routed through workers’ compensation.
o    Participate and assist in the investigation of all safety incidents to determine root cause and preventative measures.
  • Assist in gathering of information and preparation of Ladder Incident Report
o    Assist in the gathering, preparing, and issuing of  the monthly EHS report
o    Assists in Overseeing the Power Industrial Truck (PIT) Program
o    Works with Safety Team and HR to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of safety compliance. 
o    Communicates to Emergency personnel for alarms or incidents. 

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise


Education Level:
·         Associate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Qualifications:  
·         5+ years related maintenance experience

  • MANAGEMENT RESPONSILITY Manages both direct, temporary, and outside vendor employees. Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
 
  • LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
 
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
 
  • REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply principles of logical of scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract.
 
  • GENERAL SKILLS:
     
    • General knowledge of maintenance and safety systems.

    • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations.  

    • Ability to utilize hand and power tools.
  •  
    • Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair.
  •  
    • Excellent follow up and time management skills.
  •  
    • Computer skills and knowledge.
  •  
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, prioritization and problem resolution skills.
  •  
    • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills, including proofreading, grammar and spelling aptitude.

    • Ability to work under pressure and excel at multi-tasking.

    • Possess a positive attitude; is conscientious and responsive.
  •  
    • Works well independently yet is cooperative in working with team assignments and activities.
  •  
    • Exercises diligence in completing work activities with the willingness to work extra hours if needed.

Job Benefits


Pay Range:
$57,000-$67,000,  Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; education; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
