Duties

The Development Office is responsible for securing private financial support to sustain and expand the Gallery's exhibitions, educational initiatives, conservation efforts, and other programs that advance the National Gallery of Art's mission. Duties for this position include; Identify, cultivate, and steward a portfolio of foundation donors and prospects. Develop and implement strategic foundation giving plans in coordination with the Director of Strategic Giving to secure support for the National Gallery's fundraising priorities. Prepare foundation grant proposals for donors and prospects. Prepare progress reports for foundation donors which provide information on the impact and outcome of their giving. Produce correspondence for donor emails, letters, and gift acknowledgments. Collaborate with foundation prospects to assess their giving capabilities. Manage special projects and events to cultivate and steward foundation prospects. Work collaboratively with the Development Department to support fundraising efforts, internal and external to the Gallery Provide centralized project management support to the development department by coordinating fundraising efforts for exhibition support.

Qualifications and evaluation

Your resume will be used to evaluate your experience, education, and/or training that address the competencies below: Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices in general, and experience in foundation grant making for a nonprofit organization, and interest in the arts and culture sector. Skill in foundation grant writing and ability to develop cultivation strategies to optimize foundation support. Familiarity with fundraising tools such as Raiser's Edge. Proven ability and success in securing foundation funding. Ability to manage and effectively steward a portfolio of foundation grants. Knowledge and experience with foundation reporting needs, including preparing budgets and financial reports. Ability to produce polished, high-quality time-sensitive foundation reports while managing competing deadlines and workstreams. Knowledge of project management tools such as Wrike and Asana. Ability to work collaboratively within and across departments and prepare accurate reports for dissemination to various stakeholders. Category Rating: Qualified candidates will be assigned to one of the three quality categories: The quality categories are defined as: Qualified, Well Qualified, or Best Qualified. Qualified Category = Does not exceed the basic qualifications requirements described in the "Qualifications" section of this announcement. Well Qualified Category = Meets the basic qualifications requirements described in the "Qualifications" section of this announcement and demonstrates proficiency in the Critical Competencies defined below. (This category must be met to be considered under ICTAP procedures) Best Qualified Category = Meets the basic qualifications requirements described in the "Qualifications" section of this announcement and excels in the Critical Competencies defined below. The category assignment is a measure of the degree in which your background matches the competencies required for this position.
