Position Overview
The Senior Program Manager, Product Development will be responsible for organizing and executing programs to support the product development pipeline, leading them toward successful completion while providing project/program management experience, rigor, and consistency across product development. This is a hands-on role that requires close collaboration with all levels at Abbott Cancer Diagnostics.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead and coach multiple efforts and teams to deliver work successfully.

  • Apply project management methodologies and best practices.

  • Work with business stakeholders to define strategy and requirements in order to define and execute a collection of projects across the business.

  • Develop schedules, budgets, risk management plans, and lead the team to success.

  • Maintain detailed program metrics around initiative goals and communicate progress to key stakeholders.

  • Make critical decisions based upon a combination of data analysis, experience, and judgement.

  • Formulate, organize, and monitor inter-connected projects to include coordination of cross-project activities.

  • Develop and mentor program and project team members.

  • Listen, influence, negotiate, and mitigate conflict while building relationships achieving desired results.

  • Partner with multiple internal cross-functional teams and successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Facilitate the organization’s development of objectives, key performance indicators, and results tracking.

  • Collaborate with management to escalate issues or critical risks associated with project staffing.

  • Apply project management methodologies and best practices.

  • Work with business stakeholders to define strategy and requirements in order to define and execute a collection of projects across the business.

  • Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Ability to influence and persuade while remaining results orientated.  

  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple competing priorities within and across multiple projects at the same time.

  • Ability to work in a matrix management organization with primary responsibility for project success while relying on a team of resources, which may or may not be direct reports.

  • Strong facilitation and teamwork skills.

  • Support and comply with the company’s Quality Management System policies and procedures. 

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance. 

  • Ability to act with an inclusion mindset and model these behaviors for the organization. 

  • Ability to work designated schedule.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.

  • Ability and means to travel between local Exact Sciences locations.

  • Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Engineering, or related field as outlined in the essential duties.

  • 8+ years of broad-based project management experience to include tracking and reporting responsibilities for a large project portfolio. 

  • 5+ years managing and leading large impact, large budget, high risk, and critical projects.

  • 5+ years using Project Management software.

  • 3+ years managing design control process, compliant with ISO 13485 standards and 21 CFR 820 regulations.

  • Demonstrated success in risk management, change management, and strategic planning.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage the in vitro diagnostic product development process.

  • Demonstrated ability to balance cost, quality, and schedule constraints while escalating issues.

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office to include Project, Visio, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. 

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Engineering, or related field as outlined in the essential duties.

  • Experience working in a matrix management organization with the primary responsibility for project success while relying on a team of resources which are not direct reports.

  • Experience in projects that include integration of biological systems with automation and software applications.

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification.

  • Experience with Smartsheet.

The base pay for this position is

$114,000.00 – $228,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
