Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Consulting Solutions (ICS) division oversees more than $1 trillion in AUA and provides institutional clients (e.g., corporations, Taft-Hartley plans, foundations, endowments) with holistic, objective investment advice and a broad set of advisory solutions. The retirement team supports plan sponsor client solutions for all consulting distribution channels and is responsible for $675 billion of AUA. The team supports advisors and consultants as they drive organic business growth, and long-term client retention.
Position Summary:
The Institutional Retirement – Large Market Client Solutions Associate will support key growth initiatives for Morgan Stanley’s retirement plan consulting practice within Institutional Consulting Solutions. The role focuses on advancing large ($250M–$1B) and strategic ($1B+) market retirement plan opportunities through pipeline management, cross-functional coordination, competitive intelligence, and sales enablement in support of the firm’s “integrated firm” approach.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
• Support large and strategic market retirement business development by helping drive initiatives tied to the integrated firm strategy (in partnership with Investment Banking and Strategic Client Management) and building relationships with key internal stakeholders.
• Pipeline development: maintain and coordinate a detailed pipeline of earlier stage public and private companies. Ensuring opportunities advance through the discovery lifecycle via effective coordination with internal partners and engagement through distribution channels.
• RFP and sales reporting support: maintain salesforce updates and reporting for an active pipeline on a weekly basis. Help support strategies to advance opportunities and engage with key partners across the firm.
• Competitive and market intelligence: conduct competitive research on tactical large market opportunities and identify strategic opportunities using industry intelligence tools; capture insights on peer competitors and market dynamics.
• Growth campaigns and partner coordination: support external B2B drip campaigns in coordination with marketing and communication teams; provide support for external RFP search consultant partners.
• Policy and inventory management: manage exception inventory for the participant engagement, including monthly communications to the field leadership.
• Cross-functional collaboration: engage internal partners across Strategic Client Management and Institutional Securities to accelerate lead development, support active opportunities, and help drive client acquisition and asset retention outcomes
Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce leadership-ready materials
Ownership mindset with an entrepreneurial, proactive approach
Collaborative, relationship-oriented style with strong interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively across functions
Strong organizational and prioritization skills; able to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
Excellent problem-solving capabilities with sound business judgment
Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce)
Knowledge of investment consulting or a related financial services field (preferred)

Expected base pay rate for the role will be between $70,000 and $115,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short- and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley-sponsored benefit programs.
