Job Description
The VP of CBB Executive Strategy leads the development of enterprise-impacting strategic perspectives for the bank’s most senior audiences, including the Managing Committee, CEO, and Board of Directors. This role sits at the center of the organization’s most critical strategic questions—synthesizing internal and external inputs into clear, actionable points of view that guide decision-making at the highest levels.
The leader operates with both depth and speed, bringing structure to complex, ambiguous challenges and translating them into concise, compelling strategic positions for executive consumption.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Thought Leadership
- Lead the development of CBB’s highest-priority strategic perspectives, including market expansion, growth pathways, and competitive positioning
- Frame and structure responses to critical, time-sensitive strategic questions from the CEO, Managing Committee, and senior leadership
- Apply an external lens by integrating market trends, competitor activity, and macroeconomic dynamics into recommendations
- Develop clear, evidence-based strategic positions and influence alignment across senior stakeholders
Executive & Board Engagement
- Develop high-impact materials and strategic narratives for CEO and Board-level audiences
- Translate complex analyses into concise, decision-ready insights that enable rapid, informed action
- Continuously refine messaging and recommendations based on executive feedback and evolving priorities
Strategic Synthesis & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Integrate inputs from across the organization (e.g., finance, product, channels, risk) into a cohesive, enterprise-level strategic view
- Lead cross-functional workstreams to gather, challenge, and align perspectives across business and functional partners
- Apply rigorous analytical thinking to distill complex data into clear implications and recommendations
- Balance quality and speed—delivering high-impact insights under tight timelines and shifting priorities

- Strong confidence from the Board and Managing Committee in the clarity, coherence, and credibility of CBB strategic perspectives
- Accelerated, higher-quality executive decision-making on the bank’s most critical strategic priorities
- Consistent, enterprise-aligned strategic narrative across governance forums
- Reduced cycle time from strategic question to executive-ready recommendation
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 10+ years of experience in strategy, corporate development, consulting, or financial services leadership roles
- Deep understanding of consumer and business banking and broader financial services dynamics
- Proven ability to connect external trends, competitive dynamics, and internal performance to actionable strategy
- Exceptional analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to translate complex inputs into clear, decision-ready outputs
- Strong executive presence, sound judgment, and the ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and effectively
- Demonstrated track record of developing materials that influence senior executive decision-making
- Operates with urgency and responsiveness in fast-paced, high-visibility environments
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and rapidly evolving priorities
- Highly effective relationship builder with the ability to influence across senior stakeholders
Hybrid/flexible schedule:
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $149,515.00 - $175,900.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment. U.S. Bank conducts background checks consistent with applicable local laws, including the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance and the California Fair Chance Act as well as the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
