Job Description
The Head of Strategy & Corporate Development, reporting to Head of Enterprise Strategy & Administration, will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the bank’s enterprise-wide strategic agenda. This role will lead the development, execution, and continuous refinement of corporate strategy, ensuring alignment with long-term enterprise business goals. The executive will also oversee market intelligence, strategic opportunity identification, and the full lifecycle of mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and divestitures.
The successful candidate must be a dynamic individual who understands financial modeling and ROI analysis and can lead cross-functional teams to align strategy with enterprise financial performance metrics. They should be adept at conducting market research and competitive analysis, benchmarking industry trends and best practices and using data to inform strategic decisions. In addition, this leader must be adept at articulating strategy clearly to internal and external audiences and creating compelling business cases and presentations. They must also be adept at M&A deal syndication and management
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead the formulation of long-term enterprise strategic plans for the bank in collaboration with the CEO and executive team
Translate strategic vision into actionable roadmaps and measurable objectives
Facilitate cross-functional alignment and execution of strategic initiatives across revenue lines
Partner with senior leaders on growth strategies both organic and inorganic while leading internal and external conversations regarding M&A and other strategic growth topics
Oversee competitive intelligence, market trend analysis, and scenario planning
Identify emerging opportunities and threats through data-driven insights
Provide strategic recommendations based on rigorous analysis and business modeling
Evaluate and prioritize organic and inorganic growth opportunities for the bank
Partner with business leaders to incubate and scale new business models, products, and services
Drive strategic partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures that align with enterprise growth goals
Lead end-to-end M&A activities including target identification, due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and integration
Build and manage a robust deal pipeline in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
Develop investment theses and syndicate deals with the board, investors, and strategic partners
Lead and execute high-impact enterprise projects, ensuring alignment and accountability across senior leadership
In-depth knowledge of financial services trends, regulatory environment and competitive landscape
Build and sustain trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the long-range strategy and organizational goals
Gather leadership perspectives on critical issues and/or opportunities as they arise; facilitate leadership with a high degree of transparency and high-touch communications, and ensure the appropriate stakeholders are included in relevant decisions and actions
Continually scan the environment for trends, innovations and operating models of high performing, high impact banking, fintech and financial services organizations.
Identify and achieve measurable outcomes in a timely, cost-effective, and employee centric manner – drive day to day actions and priorities, balancing short-term needs with long-term priorities
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The successful candidate should have a proven track record of developing and executing corporate strategies that drive growth and profitability (both organic and inorganic) within consulting, the financial service industry or investment banking and have a background in Strategy, Consulting, Business Operations, and/or Planning leadership roles.
IN ADDITION, THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING
MBA or equivalent experience
Relevant industry leadership experience across most areas of our portfolio, preferably within financial services & fintech
Proven track record of leading corporate strategy, M&A or business transformation
Proven communication and stakeholder management skills, including investor relations and external partnerships
Demonstrated ability to oversee and coordinate a complex portfolio of projects and initiatives
Familiarity with translating high-level organizational goals into actionable plans and ensuring follow-through
Proven experience researching, compiling, and synthesizing complex and/or large quantities of data into executive briefing documents
Demonstrated experience anticipating challenges and implementing proactive solutions
Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills with the ability to build trust quickly across multiple audiences and stakeholders
Proven experience managing sensitive information and communications with the highest level of discretion
Familiarity with fintech, digital transformations, and emerging technology trends in the financial sector

This executive will have experience leading a best-in-class strategy and corporate development organization, leveraging highly disciplined business, financial, and strategic processes to drive long-range financial and growth goals.

PROJECT MANGEMENT: Experience in developing strategies and providing work direction and guidance to a broader team of organization. Ability to make sense out of complex situations, demonstrating intellectual curiosity, and driving outcomes with appropriate levels of governance and controls.
COMMUNICATION: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively build and articulate messages with story-telling technics and detailed points of view.
COLLABORATION: Demonstrated experience in excelling in a highly collaborative work environment and leading large scale initiatives cross functionally across a large organization.
INFLUENCE: Proven history of leading and/or influencing senior leaders and teams by proven results driven through excellent leadership in action.
PROBLEM SOLVING: Problem solving orientated, with the ability to recognize needs, anticipate issues, and develop solutions using strong analytical, business knowledge, and financial acumen.
INTERPERSONAL: Outstanding interpersonal, influence-management, and communication skills, particularly in building relationships with business leaders and key stake holder.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $304,045.00 - $357,700.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
