The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the expert authority for leading cross cutting capability development and analysis efforts in support of HAF A5/7 delegated future force design and capability development programs.
Duties
The A5/8/9 Senior Advisor, CAF Futures Capability Development, is the senior expert and general officer equivalent (GO equivalent) authority for cross cutting capability development and analysis across the Combat Air Forces. The Senior Advisor supports ACC lead command responsibilities for over 140 modernization programs while guiding new efforts driven by SECAF directed Operational Imperatives. This role leads HAF/A5/7 delegated future force design work and SAF/AQ assigned operational requirements and pre acquisition activities. The Senior Advisor aligns these efforts with the National Defense Strategy and Operational Imperatives, turning them into clear concepts, requirements, and program strategies. They lead cross functional teams that integrate operational, technical, and analytical perspectives into enterprise level capability plans. The Senior Advisor builds key partnerships and engages routinely with HAF, SAF, the Space Force, and other stakeholders in senior forums. The role helps leaders balance risk to current readiness against the need to modernize for future high-end conflict. The Senior Advisor drives mission engineering and modeling and simulation to inform tradeoffs across portfolios and kill chains. They lead efforts to mature critical and innovative technologies and to define and baseline future weapons systems and programs.
Qualifications and evaluation

Failure to meet any one of the mandatory technical or senior professional qualification standards will eliminate a candidate from further consideration. A screening panel will evaluate the candidates for this position composed of senior executives selected for organizational and/or functional backgrounds relevant to this position. The panel members will individually review each of the applications in terms of the qualifications criteria contained in this announcement. The qualifications stated are the minimum requirements of the position to be Qualified, a rating schedule will be applied by a screening panel to determine which candidates are considered to be Best Qualified. Then, they will meet to discuss each application, and reach a consensus decision as to the best qualified, qualified or not qualified candidates. The panel will interview all of the best-qualified candidates based upon consistently applied criteria. The panel will then make a recommendation of those best-qualified candidates who should be referred to the selecting official, in priority order. Final selection of a candidate is contingent upon USecAF approval.
Education
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is desired. A master's or advanced degree from an accredited institution is highly desired.
