Duties

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) has overall responsibility for the oversight and administration of broad and/or critical agency IT programs and operations, including: Office of Information Technology: Supports the Commission and staff of the SEC in all aspects of information technology, including application development, infrastructure operations and engineering, user support, IT program management, capital planning, and enterprise architecture. Chief Information Security Officer: Protects the SEC against cybersecurity threats, manages vulnerabilities, and ensures compliance with federal mandates and legislation, including the Federal Information Security Modernization Act. Chief Data Officer: Enables data analytics to support enforcement, examinations, policymaking, and other agency activities, and supports the agency to enable effective and efficient data security. Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer: Leads efforts to responsibly harness AI for greater innovation and operational efficiency. EDGAR Business Office: Manages all aspects of the EDGAR program, an ecosystem of services and systems that support the SEC's public filing regime.

Qualifications and evaluation

This position is being advertised through the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) Delegated Direct-Hire Authority (5 U.S.C. Section 3304 and 5 CFR Part 337, Subpart B) and is open to All U.S. Citizens. Under this authority, competitive rating, ranking and veterans' preference procedures do not apply. Once your supplemental information is received, a rating panel will review both your resume and your narrative response. Basis for Rating: The rating panel will evaluate applicants' supplemental information and resume, and then place them into one of the following categories: Pass - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and has at least a moderate amount of skills and experience in most of the job related competencies. Fail - Meets the minimum qualification requirements, but has only limited experience in several of the job related competencies.
