Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking an experienced Data Product Owner to drive the strategy, roadmap, prioritization, and delivery of data products within the Investment Services Data Domain. This role serves as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, governance partners, and technology teams, translating business needs into scalable, governed, and reusable data products that support reporting, analytics, operational decision-making, and AI-enabled use cases.

The Data Product Owner is accountable for the full lifecycle of assigned data products, including intake, prioritization, requirements management, adoption, governance, and continuous improvement. While primarily focused on product ownership and stakeholder engagement, this role may also contribute to the design, prototyping, and development of foundational "gold" data products to accelerate delivery, support modernization efforts, and promote consistency across the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and maintain product vision, strategy, roadmaps, and priorities for assigned data products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and enterprise data strategy.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities, gather requirements, and translate business needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized backlogs.
  • Lead intake, prioritization, and roadmap discussions, balancing business value, strategic objectives, technical dependencies, risk considerations, and available delivery capacity.
  • Collaborate with data engineering, architecture, analytics, and governance teams to design and deliver trusted, scalable, and reusable data products that support reporting, analytics, operational processes, and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Champion data-as-a-product principles, including product ownership, discoverability, documentation, governance, data quality, metadata, lineage, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive adoption and continuous improvement through stakeholder engagement, product performance monitoring, user feedback, and measurement of business outcomes.
  • Support the development and evolution of governed "gold" data products that improve consistency, traceability, scalability, and reuse across business and technology teams.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, modernize, and consolidate data assets and reporting solutions, including support for cloud migration and enterprise data initiatives.
  • Contribute to product design, prototyping, data analysis, or development activities when appropriate to accelerate delivery and establish foundational data capabilities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically eight or more years of experience in data, analytics, product management, business analysis, technology delivery, or related disciplines.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience defining business requirements, user stories, product roadmaps, and prioritization frameworks.
  • Experience working across business and technology organizations to deliver data, analytics, or technology solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and complex business requirements.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing data products, analytics products, business intelligence solutions, or enterprise data initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data engineering, data modeling, reporting, analytics, and modern cloud data architectures.
  • Experience with technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure, SQL Server, Postgres, or similar data platforms.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, metadata management, lineage, stewardship, and data-as-a-product principles.
  • Experience defining product KPIs, adoption metrics, service levels, and business value realization measures.
  • Experience operating within Agile product delivery environments and managing product backlogs.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience supporting modernization initiatives, including migration of data assets from on-premises to cloud environments.
  • Experience supporting Investment Services, Fund Services, Custody, Fund Accounting, Transfer Agency, or other financial services organizations preferred.
