Duties
As a GS-0185-12, Social Worker, you will facilitate preventive, remedial, and support services to optimize psychological health and readiness of National Guard (NG) military members and their families. As part of the Office of the State Surgeon, the incumbent exercises technical oversight of behavioral health (BH) programs and supports the development of an annual program strategy to determine priorities, gaps, needs, and means to achieve annual goals. Serves as a state liaison to the Army National Guard (ARNG) and Joint Surgeon BH programs; ensures timely and accurate state BH reporting and represents the state on ARNG BH Work Group. Major duties focus on coordination and implementation of BH programs and processes encompassing: (1) outreach and education, (2) population health surveillance, (3) command consultation, (4) screening and evaluation, (5) crisis intervention, (6) physical profiling, (7) treatment referral networks, (8) case management efforts, and (9) quality assurance. Responsibilities include providing: primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention programs, specialty training for NG health care professionals and other personnel on issues related to the psychological health of Guardsmen and their families, and multi-level community organization, collaboration, and enhancement.. Education
Master's degree in Social Work from a graduate school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) must be acceptable to The Surgeon General. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your Educational claims. Alternatively, If you are a current military member in active duty service and do not have a copy of your DD Form-214, you must submit a written documentation (certification) from your branch of service certifying that you are expected to be discharged or released from active duty under honorable conditions no later than 120 days after the date the certification is submitted with your application for this position. The certification should also include your rank, dates of active duty service and what the condition of discharge is thought to be. If claiming 10-point preference and/or are a 30% or more Disabled Veteran, you must submit both a DD Form-214 or expected discharge documentation as described above AND a copy of a letter from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or your branch of service certifying the presence of service-connected disability and indicating the percentage of disability If you are claiming eligibility based on 10-point derived veterans' preference (i.e. a spouse, widow/widower, or parent of a veteran claiming veterans' preference when the veteran is unable to use it), you must also submit a Standard Form 15 (SF-15) "Application for 10-Point Veteran's Preference" and any required documents indicated on the SF-15 to substantiate the claimed preference. 6. Applicants claiming Priority Placement Program: DoD Military Reserve (MR) and National Guard (NG) Technician Eligible must submit the following documentation: Military Reserve and National Guard Technician PPP Self Certification Checklist (DD 3145-3), Termination SF-50 Separation stating that the applicant has Priority Placement Eligibility Notice of Separation confirming of eligibility. DoD MR and NG Preference Eligible Tech Receiving Disability Retirement must submit the following documentation: Military Reserve and Technician Disability PPP Self Certification Checklist (DD 3145-2), Termination SF-50 Separation stating that the applicant has Priority Placement Eligibility Notice of Separation confirming of eligibility. DOD Military Spouse preference must submit the following documentation: Marriage Certificate, Spouses PCS Orders, Military Spouse PPP Self Certification Checklist DoD Retained Grade preference must submit the following documentation: Retained Grade PPP Self Certification Checklist (DD3145-1), SF-50 effecting the placement in retained grade status, and a copy of the notification letter received (RIF or classification downgrade)
