Job Description
U.S. Bank is seeking a highly motivated and consultative Payment Sales Consultant (PSC) to join our Government Banking team. This role is responsible for driving growth, retention, and expansion of Treasury Management and payment solutions relationships within a national portfolio of government clients and prospects.
As a trusted advisor and payments expert, the Payment Sales Consultant partners closely with Relationship Managers, Treasury Management teams, Product partners, and other key stakeholders to identify client needs, deliver strategic solutions, and deepen client relationships. The ideal candidate is a proven sales professional with extensive experience in payments, treasury management, and consultative client engagement.

Market Focus
This role supports a national Government Banking portfolio, with primary emphasis on clients throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The preferred candidate will be based in or near key markets such as New York City or Philadelphia, though other locations may be considered based on business needs and candidate qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to grow payment solution revenue and deepen existing client relationships.
- Partner with Relationship Managers and line-of-business leaders to identify opportunities, drive referrals, and deliver comprehensive client solutions.
- Consult with government clients on payment optimization, operational efficiency, fraud mitigation, cash flow management, and working capital strategies.
- Present and position Treasury Management solutions, including ACH, wire transfer services, integrated receivables, payables, commercial card, virtual card, and merchant services offerings.
- Lead the sales process from initial discovery through proposal, closing, implementation, and ongoing relationship management.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities across existing and prospective government clients.
- Conduct executive-level client and prospect presentations focused on business outcomes, value delivery, and strategic partnership.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on industry trends, competitive offerings, and regulatory developments impacting government entities.
- Collaborate across business lines to deliver a seamless and exceptional client experience.
- Support divisional initiatives, special projects, and team development efforts, including serving as a mentor to less experienced sales professionals.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- 10 or more years of sales experience in the commercial banking industry
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Significant experience in payments, treasury management, commercial banking, financial services, or consultative business development.
- Demonstrated success building and expanding client relationships with senior decision-makers.
- Strong sales, negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
- Experience selling Treasury Management, payment, or commercial banking solutions.
- Experience supporting government, public sector, institutional, healthcare, education, or large corporate clients.
- Strong knowledge of payment products, including ACH, wire transfer, commercial card, virtual card, merchant services, integrated receivables, and payables solutions.
- Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales and revenue objectives.
- Ability to navigate complex organizations and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of payments industry trends, emerging technologies, and treasury best practices.
Location
This role is aligned to key Government Banking markets. Primary target locations include New York City and Philadelphia, with flexibility for other locations based on business needs and candidate qualifications.
Travel
Periodic travel is required to support client meetings, business development activities, team collaboration, and industry events. Travel expectations will vary based on territory coverage and business needs.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $157,230.00 - 192,170.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
