Job Description
The Automotive Outside Sales Executive is responsible for driving revenue growth by developing new business and expanding existing customer relationships within the automotive market. This role will identify customer needs, develop equipment, installation, and service opportunities, manage the sales pipeline, and guide projects from initial discovery through proposal and close. The position requires a proactive, consultative sales approach, strong relationship building skills, and the ability to consistently achieve established sales goals while delivering solutions that meet customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow new business by proactively calling on automotive dealerships, service departments, municipalities, schools districts, and other commercial customers.
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities for automotive equipment, installation, service, and related solutions.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships with service managers, fixed-operations leaders, fleet managers, and other key decision makers.
- Achieving established sales revenue goals and targets through consistent prospecting, customer engagement, opportunity development, and closing activities.
- Develop and manage a healthy sales pipeline, maintaining accurate opportunity information, projected sales close dates, and revenue forecasts.
- Conduct customer needs assessments to identify opportunities for equipment replacement, facility upgrades, service, preventative maintenance, and new construction projects.
- Prepare and develop project statements of work (SOW) in collaboration with estimating and project management teams to ensure customer requirements and project scope are clearly defined.
- Partner with estimators and internal teams to develop accurate, competitive proposals for automotive equipment and installation projects.
- Coordinate project opportunities from initial discovery through proposal, negotiation, and close, ensuring a professional customer experience throughout the sales process.
- Monitor market conditions, competitive activity, and industry trends to identify emerging opportunities and adjust sales strategies accordingly.
- Maintain a strong understanding of customer needs and changing market demands to proactively position company’s products and services.
- Expand existing accounts by identifying additional equipment, installation, service, and facility opportunities with current customer relationships.
- Collaborate cross functionally with automotive technicians, estimating, project management, service, and leadership to ensure opportunities are properly developed and executed.
- Maintain accurate and timely CRM activity and forecasting, including customer interactions, opportunities, next steps, expected close dates, and projected revenue.

What You’ll Bring to the Role
- Proven sales experience (5+ years preferred), with a customer-centric focus
- An unwavering desire to win
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal) as well as displaying a high degree of detailed business development planning. Prior experience utilizing a CRM is strongly preferred
- Proven business acumen related to understanding customer needs, strong negotiating skills, and a mindset to improve the work of our clientele.
- Must be willing to travel occasionally (30-50%) and work out of town including overnight stays; amount of travel will vary based upon client needs. Likewise, flexibility in work hours is required
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required)
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding, including drug test and background check. (required)
