Job Overview
The Associate, Social Impact helps bring Macy’s social impact strategy to life by advancing initiatives that strengthen the company's culture, brand, and business. This role supports Mission Every One, Macy’s social impact platform designed to foster togetherness in everyday life, through customer-facing campaigns, nonprofit partnerships, community activations, and compelling storytelling.
The Associate, Social Impact identifies and executes new opportunities, manages projects from concept through implementation, and collaborates with cross-functional partners to deliver meaningful social impact experiences. They build and maintain strong relationships with nonprofit organizations and internal stakeholders, using influence and collaboration to drive results that support business objectives and social purpose goals.

Based at Macy’s iconic New York City headquarters, the Associate, Social Impact reports to the Director, Social Impact within the Corporate Communications & Public Affairs organization.
What You Will Do
Campaigns & Customer Engagement
- Support the strategy, planning and execution of national customer-facing fundraising campaigns, nonprofit partnerships and community initiatives.
- Partner with marketing, communications and cross-functional teams to deliver integrated campaigns across digital, in-store and experiential channels.
- Create and manage campaign materials including marketing briefs, key messages, presentations, store communications and execution guides.
- Coordinate with nonprofit partners, stores and internal stakeholders to ensure successful implementation of campaigns and events.
Communications & Storytelling
- Support the development of communications and storytelling that demonstrate impact and drive engagement among customers, colleagues and communities.
- Track campaign performance, gather key metrics and insights, and develop reports, recaps and presentations that communicate results and impact.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Research and monitor consumer, community and industry trends to identify opportunities, inform future initiatives and help advance best practices in social impact and cause marketing.
- Help identify and develop new ideas, partnerships and engagement opportunities that strengthen customer connection and community impact.
Store Engagement & Community Partnerships
- Build relationships with Social Impact Captains, field leaders and nonprofit partners to support local activation, community engagement and feedback collection.
- Represent Macy's at nonprofit, community and industry events, with occasional domestic travel.
Program Operations & Administration
- Support program administration, compliance and financial processes including contracts, co-venture requirements, purchase orders, invoices and budget tracking.
- Respond to requests from stores, nonprofit partners and internal stakeholders, helping ensure initiatives are delivered effectively and efficiently.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
- In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.
Skills You Will Need
Social Impact Strategy & Execution – Knowledge of social impact, community engagement, and cause marketing principles with the ability to translate strategy into impactful programs, campaigns, and partnerships that advance business and social purpose objectives.
Campaign Management – Experience planning, coordinating, and executing customer-facing campaigns across digital, in-store, and experiential channels while managing timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence – Ability to work effectively across marketing, communications, stores, finance, legal, and other business functions, building alignment and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
Communications & Storytelling – Strong written, verbal, presentation, and editing skills with the ability to craft compelling messages, reports, presentations, and narratives that communicate impact and inspire engagement.
Project Management & Organization – Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, coordinate complex initiatives, maintain attention to detail, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
Community Engagement & Event Activation – Experience supporting events, activations, and community-based initiatives that strengthen customer connections, colleague engagement, and brand reputation.
Innovation & Creative Problem Solving – Curiosity and creativity to identify emerging trends, generate new ideas, evaluate opportunities, and develop solutions that enhance social impact and customer engagement.
Program Operations & Financial Administration – Knowledge of budgets, contracts, invoices, compliance requirements, purchase orders, and administrative processes required to support effective program execution.
Adaptability & Agility – Flexibility to navigate changing priorities, balance competing demands, and contribute across multiple projects and initiatives within a dynamic retail environment.
Strategic Judgment – Sound decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate opportunities, anticipate challenges, and align recommendations with organizational priorities and objectives.
Who You Are
Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
- 3-5 years of experience in the areas of marketing, event planning, communications, social impact or nonprofit management preferred.
- This role involves performing essential job functions such as communication, collaboration, and use of office and computer systems. Responsibilities include the ability to access and review written and electronic information, and to move within the work environment and interact with workplace materials as needed to carry out job responsibilities.
Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
