Job Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Photo Art Director, the Photo Art Director, Specialist is responsible for leading photography art direction for ecommerce content. This role directs on-set execution for on-figure selling shots, including casting, lighting, composition, talent direction, image selection, retouching, and post-production. The Specialist partners closely with creative and production teams to deliver brand-consistent imagery on time and within budget, while supporting the evolution of the brand’s visual identity, styling standards, photography processes, and market-relevant asset needs.

This role is based at our Long Island City photo studio and requires an on-set presence four days per week. The studio is accessible via public transportation, and street parking is available nearby.

What You Will Do

• Direct on-set execution for on-figure selling shots in alignment with styling point of view and shot-type standards.

• Elevate ecommerce imagery while maintaining productivity targets and working within budget parameters.

• Adhere to production timelines while contributing ideas that improve process efficiency and image quality.

• Collaborate with creative, styling, production, and cross-functional partners to evolve styling direction, keep the styling closet relevant, and ensure teams remain current on trends and style direction.

• Actively participate in image reviews and provide clear, actionable feedback to support final asset selection.

• Research and recommend photographers, stylists, models, and other talent appropriate for ecommerce photoshoots.

Skills You Will Need

• Proven experience developing and executing photography for ecommerce.

• Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in on-model photography and visual storytelling.

• Expertise in lighting, composition, color theory, retouching direction, and photographic production workflows.

• Experience using AI-enhanced creative and retouching tools to support production efficiency and asset refinement while maintaining authentic product representation, model integrity, and responsible visual storytelling.

• Strong creative judgment with the ability to balance brand consistency, commercial objectives, and innovation.

• Proficiency with industry-standard photography equipment, capture software, Adobe Creative Suite, and asset management workflows.

• Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and project management skills.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.

Who You Are

• Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field are encouraged to apply.
• 5+ years of direct experience in fashion photography art direction, ecommerce photography, studio production, or a related creative field.
• Strong ability to collaborate across creative, styling, production, merchandising, digital, and studio teams.
• Regularly required to sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to touch, handle, and feel; occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Close vision is required.
• Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
