About the Role

At Straub Collaborative, we produce high-volume e-commerce content for leading retail brands. As a Production Assistant, you’ll support the day-to-day operational functions of a fast-paced studio—handling equipment setup and breakdown, set transitions, and technical troubleshooting to maintain total studio readiness.

You’ll work closely with photographers, stylists, producers, and the Studio Manager to keep active shoots moving efficiently while coordinating merchandise movement and equipment maintenance across every set.

This role is equal parts hands-on technical support and operational discipline—ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, active studio environment.

What You’ll Do

On-Set Production & Equipment Support

  • Support daily studio operations through equipment setup, breakdown, and ongoing maintenance
  • Assist photographers, producers, stylists, and studio teams during active shoots
  • Maintain photography and video gear, including light troubleshooting and repairs
  • Coordinate equipment rentals and maintain studio readiness for upcoming productions
  • Execute floor sets, production transitions, and set resets between shoots
  • Follow established studio safety guidelines, operational workflows, and equipment handling procedures

Merchandise Preparation & Inventory Flow

  • Assist with merchandise preparation, movement, steaming, hanging, and packing
  • Transport studio equipment, props, supplies, and rolling racks across studio areas
  • Support inventory tracking to ensure smooth, organized production flow
  • Help with studio shipping, receiving, deliveries, and package coordination
  • Keep studio sets, equipment areas, and production stations clean and organized

Workflow & Studio Operations

  • Partner with the Studio Manager and creative teams to keep productions on schedule
  • Support daily workflow tracking and production coordination across all sets
  • Communicate proactively with photographers, operations, and leadership
  • Adapt quickly to shifting schedules, priorities, and active studio demands
  • Provide additional hands-on operational and production support as needed

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in photo/video production, creative studios, or e-commerce environments preferred
  • Hands-on experience with photography, lighting, or grip equipment preferred
  • Working knowledge of studio equipment and safe handling procedures
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams); workflow tool experience is a plus
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail in a fast-paced setting
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently on active sets

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and move on concrete studio floors for extended periods
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and transport of rolling racks, carts, and gear
  • Frequent bending, reaching, crouching, and using ladders or step stools
  • Frequent manual dexterity for gear setup, cable management, and merchandise prep

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced, highly collaborative e-commerce photography and video studio
  • Active on-set and warehouse environment with varying noise levels, music, and changing schedules
  • Work performed around studio lighting equipment, production cables, rolling gear, and ladders
  • Requires consistent on-site presence and regular in-person collaboration with studio teams

Additional Requirements

  • Must be local to the New York area or able to commute
  • Flexible schedule, including early prep and extended shoot days as needed
