Logistics Manager

The Logistics Manager is responsible for the oversight of people, technology, shipping, receiving activities and materials required to meet customer deliverables.


Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Ensures a safe work environment for all related activities and ensures required training is in place for team members performing those activities.
  • Establish best practices for all logistics functions by ensuring an in-depth understanding of customer expectations so that the quality of products and services are never compromised.
  • Provide direct leadership to all personnel responsible for logistics, and facility maintenance by establishing clear, challenging SMART goals and associated KPIs that support the organization’s mission, vision and purpose.
  • Ensure proper on-boarding and training and set the highest of expectations for performance.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement goals are met and drive accountability for safety, productivity, quality and delivery.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining good communication and working relations with team members, management, and customers.
  • Ensure delivery timelines are met, and material inventory levels are maintained.
  • Implement measures to improve logistic methods and quality of service.
  • Establish a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the company’s quality and safety policies, practices, and requirements.
  • Support the Plant General Manager in developing standards, processes and KPI’s using lean manufacturing and 5S practices.
  • Identify, manage and develop talent to maximize individual and team effectiveness and foster a culture of engagement and accountability.
  • Coach through real-time feedback to develop personnel to perform at a level of high-performance excellence.
  • Analyze regional and market information to understand upstream cost drivers and the effect on market pricing including supply and demand dynamics.
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure logistics processes are incorporated within company standard operating procedures.
  • Oversee the transportation and delivery of inbound, transfer and outbound products.
  • Ensure all SFS/Stratus inputs are completed and accurate included smart sheets.

Education:
  • B.S. degree is preferred.

Experience:
  • 3 to 7 years of job-related experience is required.
  • Strong leadership capability in building high-performance individuals/teams.
  • Experience communicating effectively at all levels within an organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to coach and influence and determine effective corrective actions.
  • Solid understanding of logistics, inventory management, shipping, and in-depth knowledge of manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive consensus in demanding situations internally and organizational-wide.
  • Strong customer service orientation to best serve internal and external customer relationships.
  • Experience in leading or modeling supply chains using software support tools.
  • Excellent fact-gathering and analytical skills, including business process mapping and quantitative analysis.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Ability to manage complex issues and find strategic effective root-causes and solutions.
  • Knowledge of a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to establish and analyze metrics.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of construction materials, methods, and techniques.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to adapt effectively to changing priorities and deliver results.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and constantly seeking to gain knowledge of new technical practices in the industry.
  • Ability to aid multiple issues simultaneously.
  • Ability to speak clearly and exercise good judgment.
  • Ability to work under pressure.


Physical and/or Travel Demands
  • Job is performed in a combination of settings, including the production floor, storage yard as well as in the office. 
  • May require some travel. 
  • Physical demands include walking on uneven surfaces, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, lifting, etc.  Position includes sitting and standing, use of telephone, keyboard, and computer monitor. 

Benefits and Compensation:
  • The range for this position has been established at a $94K to $132K annual salary and is U.S. Engineering Metalworks good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
  • Your total compensation will go beyond the number on your paycheck. Team members are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance as well as paid time off. An industry-leading benefits package, including health, dental, and vision plans, matching retirement contributions, and matching 529 contributions all add to your bottom line.
