The Compliance Project Manager, Strategic Account Management, leads the planning and coordination of projects for assigned client accounts, bringing together Merchandising, Programs, and Compliance to move products from selection through final approval on schedule. The role creates visibility into project status, identifies risks and dependencies, removes roadblocks, and escalates issues that may affect product safety, regulatory compliance, client requirements, timing, or launch readiness. As a client-facing project and solutions partner, the Project Manager connects Sales, Account Management, Merchandising, Compliance, supplier partners, overseas factories, third-party testing laboratories, and clients; builds a practical understanding of client requirements and approval processes; and translates those requirements into clear priorities, decisions, and actions from concept through launch.

Responsibilities

Project Planning and Execution

  • Own the end-to-end project plan for assigned product compliance and safety initiatives, including scope, milestones, dependencies, owners, deliverables, and due dates.
  • Establish project timelines and service expectations with internal teams, clients, suppliers, factories, laboratories, and other external partners.
  • Coordinate multiple concurrent projects in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment while maintaining accurate status and documentation.
  • Lead project meetings, working sessions, and status reviews; document decisions, actions, risks, and next steps.
  • Monitor progress against milestones and proactively address delays, dependencies, and resource constraints.
  • Maintain clear project records, dashboards, trackers, and status reporting for internal and client stakeholders.
  • Serve as the central owner of project visibility across cross-functional teams, ensuring stakeholders are aligned on priorities, timelines, deliverables, decision points, and next steps.
  • Manage projects from concept through launch, considering product opportunities, client requirements, supplier selection, approvals, testing triggers, and launch-readiness dependencies.

Product Compliance and Safety Coordination

  • Translate client, regulatory, industry, and product-specific requirements into clear project plans and compliance deliverables.
  • Maintain visibility into product testing with third-party laboratories, supplier partners, and overseas factories; track timelines, anticipate delays, and flag risks to the project plan.
  • Track testing requests, sample requirements, test results, certifications, approvals, documentation, and corrective actions through completion.
  • Track compliance documentation and testing reports, routing them to Compliance team members for review and sign-off as appropriate.
  • Coordinate supplier-provided testing, factory audits, product samples, and related compliance inputs.
  • Monitor project status closely enough to identify testing failures, documentation gaps, supplier issues, and potential product safety concerns early enough to support timely resolution.
  • Track corrective action items through closure and flag overdue or at-risk items to Compliance and Account Management.
  • Maintain project tracking systems, status files, and timelines, referencing Approved Supplier Lists and testing records as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of client requirements, approval processes, testing triggers, supplier qualification expectations, and other factors that may affect product launch timelines.
  • Partner with Merchandising, Sourcing, Programs, Account Management, and Compliance early in the process to anticipate impacts to product selection, sourcing, development, testing, approval, and launch timing.
  • Support internal teams in understanding how client requirements influence sourcing, product development, and launch timing, while partnering with Compliance to ensure required reviews, testing, and approvals are completed.

Client and Stakeholder Communication

  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for project status, requirements, risks, decisions, and escalations.
  • Partner with Account Management and Sales to align on client expectations, communication plans, service levels, and client-facing outcomes.
  • Provide clear, concise updates that translate technical compliance information into practical project impacts and decisions.
  • Facilitate collaboration across internal teams, suppliers, factories, laboratories, and clients to resolve issues and keep projects moving.
  • Provide guidance on documentation standards, testing requirements, audit requests, and corrective action expectations.
  • Build productive relationships with stakeholders and advocate for process improvements that increase consistency, visibility, and scalability.
  • Act as a client-facing project partner who can confidently communicate status, requirements, risks, timeline impacts, mitigation options, and next steps.
  • Coordinate communication between internal teams to support efficient execution, informed decision-making, and a consistent client experience.
  • Partner with Merchandising and Sourcing to understand product opportunities and identify potential impacts to timelines, approvals, or supplier selection.
  • Anticipate potential delays and proactively communicate impacts and mitigation options to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Help create a clear, coordinated client experience by ensuring questions, decisions, and follow-ups have an owner and are driven through completion.

Process Improvement and Enablement

  • Identify opportunities to improve compliance project workflows, intake processes, tracking tools, reporting, and handoffs.
  • Support the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures, templates, checklists, training materials, and project playbooks.
  • Help define repeatable project and compliance controls that improve quality, timeliness, and accountability.
  • Share recurring risks, lessons learned, and process opportunities with Product Safety & Compliance and cross-functional leadership.
  • Maintain working knowledge of evolving product safety regulations, customer requirements, industry practices, and compliance tools.
  • Identify opportunities to improve communication, collaboration, and workflow efficiency across teams, including opportunities to reduce cycle times, eliminate unnecessary handoffs, and improve speed to market.
  • Help drive account growth and proactive client partnership by enabling the team to pursue new product ideas and opportunities with a clear understanding of requirements, risks, and the path to approval.
  • Contribute to scalable processes that improve the overall client experience and create repeatable ways of working across pod accounts.
