Summary

The Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board (FRTIB) is looking for a highly qualified and motivated individual to serve as Human Resources Assistant. As part of our team, you'll contribute to the stewardship of the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP)-the largest retirement plan in the U.S.--and help deliver exceptional service to federal employees, members of the uniformed services, and beneficiaries.

Duties

Review personnel forms and supporting documents to make sure information is complete, accurate, and ready for processing. Maintain employee and position information in HR systems to ensure records are accurate and up to date. Support the onboarding and separation of employees by completing required processing steps and maintaining official personnel records. Identify and correct errors or missing information in personnel records, documents, and HR systems. Provide employees, managers, and HR staff with information and assistance on HR processes and personnel actions.

Requirements

U.S. Citizenship is required. All qualification requirements must be met by 10/14/2026. One-year trial period may be required. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by a background investigation. Program requirements as a Recent Graduate: Sign a participant agreement, mentorship throughout the program, and complete at least 40 hours of formal training.

Qualified candidates will be ranked into one of three categories: (1) Best Qualified - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and excels in most requirements of the position, (2) Well Qualified - Meets the minimum qualification requirements and meets most requirements of the position, or (3) Qualified - Meets the minimum qualification requirements, but does not possess the relevant competencies to a substantive degree. Unofficial transcripts may be submitted. You will be required to submit official transcripts upon selection. Transcripts must reflect the degree/certificate program and the degree conferred date.

Additional information

The Pathways Recent Graduates program is a one-year Excepted Service appointment. Upon completion of the one year, Recent Graduates may be noncompetitively converted to a term or permanent position in the competitive service. However, conversion is NOT guaranteed. The full performance level of the position to which converted may be up to the GS -08 level. To be eligible for conversion, Recent Graduates must have: Successfully completed at least 1-year of continuous service in addition to all requirements of the Program, demonstrated successful job performance, and meet the qualifications for the position to which the Recent Graduate will be converted.
