Pharmacist (Clinical Specialist)

Summary

The clinical pharmacy specialist (CPS) functions at the highest level of clinical practice, works independently under their scope of practice as defined by the individual medical center to directly care for patients. A CPS plays a defined role in budgetary execution and serves as a mid-level provider who functions to initiate, modify or discontinue medication therapy and as a consultant for intensive medication therapy management services.

VA Careers - Pharmacy: https://youtube.com/embed/Fn_ickNBEws Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Providing highly innovative and progressive clinical pharmacy services through direct patient care and in the development of clinical pharmacy programs in ambulatory care. Responsible for efficiently employing financial resources as it pertains to the safe and effective use of medications. Services as a clinical resource to the pharmacy service and will plan, coordinate and conduct education and training programs that will provide facility staff with competencies to improve care. Educational programs will also be coordinated for patients and for medical and nursing staff. Serves as a preceptor to residents and students on clinical rotations sponsored by accredited schools of pharmacy. Provides drug information and drug literature analysis as requested by the professional staff. Provides advance pharmacology and therapeutics consultation to the Medical Center professional staff regarding ambulatory care pharmacotherapies. Evaluates non-formulary drug use through in-depth evaluation of patient condition and recommends alternatives when indicated. Identifies actual and potential drug related problems that may affect ambulatory care patients and act achieve problem resolution. Requirements

You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
