This position is assigned to the Office of Audits (JA), Office of Inspector General (OIG), General Services Administration (GSA). Location of position: GSA Office of Inspector General Greater Southwest Region Audit Office (JA-7) 819 Taylor St. Fort Worth, TX 76102 We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

Duties

The Office of Audits (JA) has a goal of improving GSA, while simultaneously protecting the integrity of its operations. This office accomplishes its mission by identifying and reporting on the challenges facing GSA management. JA conducts programmatic performance audits of GSA's operations and activities, implementation reviews, and/or contract audits. The Office of Audits also oversees financial statement audits and compliance with the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). The auditor participates with other audit staff members in performing audits of GSA awarded contracts and evaluating GSA's regional or national operating programs, systems, work processes, acquisitions, internal controls, and financial or contract administration functions. The auditor is responsible for performing a variety of audit work that requires the application of well-established auditing principles, theories, concepts, and practices. As an Auditor, your work will include the following responsibilities: • Serves on a team conducting audits to assist higher grade level auditors in determining areas of high risk during an audit. • Collects and compiles audit evidence from interviews, inquiries, and record reviews and data analyses. • Analyzes work related to developing and executing agency policies and programs. • Reviews reports consisting of a systematic examination and appraisal of financial records. • Responsible for applying established criteria to collected audit evidence to identify inconsistencies, anomalies, or exceptions.

Requirements

If selected, you must meet the following conditions: Receive authorization from OPM on any job offer you receive, if you are or were (within the last 5 years) a political Schedule A, Schedule C or Non-Career SES employee in the Executive Branch. Serve a one year probationary period, if required. Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 3 investigation level). Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA OIG employee. We will use the Department of Homeland Security's e-Verify system for this. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of continued employment. Complete a financial disclosure report to verify that no conflict, or an appearance of conflict, exists between your financial interest and this position.

Qualifications and evaluation

You will be evaluated on the questions you answer during the application process, which will measure your possession of the following competencies or knowledge, skills, and abilities. Your responses to these questions must be supported by your resume or your score may be lowered. A panel of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will review the applications of qualified candidates and assign a score for each of the four required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) based on the experience documented in the resume and narrative responses. How you will be evaluated: Demonstrates professional knowledge of auditing and accounting theories, practices, methods, and techniques to perform audit assignments and support the development of audit findings. Applies knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, and practices governing financial programs to assess compliance and evaluate program operations. Researches, analyzes, and evaluates data to identify trends, issues, inconsistencies, and impacts relevant to audit objectives. Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing to present audit information, prepare reports, and convey findings clearly to stakeholders. Demonstration of these KSAs must be supported by your resume.
