Summary

This position is located within the Department of War, Office of Inspector General (DoW OIG), Office of the Deputy Inspector General for Audit. The Audit component conducts, monitors, and initiates audits relating to the programs and operations of the DoW. There is one position within the Cyberspace Operations (CSO) Directorate. This position is temporary, not to exceed 1 year.

Duties

Plan, manage, and oversee comprehensive audits or projects, within the area of responsibility, through subordinate supervisors. Provide guidance to subordinate supervisors in audit or project execution, maintenance of schedules, and value of findings and recommendations. Oversee or directly assign work; establish performance standards and evaluate performance; reward employees; ensure appropriate staff development. Direct the development of reports or special projects, ensure compliance with standards and the development of appropriate corrective actions; and defend results or project data through the resolution process. Represents the Audit Component and agency by preparing and presenting briefings to key stakeholders, such as Congressional staff, foreign governments, the Office of the Secretary of War, and other federal agencies.

Education

Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level. Graduate Education: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study. Accreditation: Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute for experience. If you have not previously completed a probationary period with the federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period. This job opportunity announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies within 90 calendar days of the initial issue date of the referral list. You may be required to serve 1-year supervisory probationary period. Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination. The Department of War (DoW) policy on employment of annuitants issued March 18, 2004 will be used in determining eligibility of annuitants. Priority Placement Program (PPP) Military Spouse Preference (MSP) eligible candidates who currently occupy a formal training program position will be entitled to exercise their priority preference. THIS IS A TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT NOT TO EXCEED ONE YEAR. The selectee will be given a temporary promotion if eligible or be placed on a lateral detail if already serving at the advertised grade level on a permanent basis. If temporarily promoted, the temporary assignment may be ended earlier or may be extended up to five years based on management's needs. It may also be made permanent without further competition. At the end of the temporary promotion (if temporarily promoted), the employee's basic pay will be set at the rate received prior to being temporarily promoted, regardless of length of the temporary promotion. The pay rate shall be increased to reflect pay increases (if any) received while temporarily promoted, as long as the resulting rate does not exceed the new range maximum. Return Rights: If the duration of this temporary assignment is one year or less, the employee will be returned to their permanent position of record. Return rights to the employee's permanent position of record may be impacted if the temporary assignment lasts over one year (including extensions beyond the initial appointment) and is in a different Division/Office. Office refers to the equivalent of a Division, not a geographic location. When both criteria apply, the temporary and permanent Division/Office must concur on the position to which the employee will be permanently returned to. If the employee's permanent position of record is no longer available at the conclusion of the temporary assignment, the employee will be placed in a position that is comparable to the other permanent position (i.e., same series, grade, and duty location).
