Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our US Engineering team.  This role will coordinate all aspects of hydraulic drive system orders for the mining, recycling, pulp and rubber industries across North America.  The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organized and willing to build expertise across a breadth of engineering disciplines (electrical, hydraulic and mechanical).

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Project Engineer/Coordinator throughout the life of the assigned hydraulic drive system order.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the assigned project, perform application reviews with field sales personnel and customers, design hydraulic power units and hydraulic drive systems, prepare and update project documentation, drawings, and Bill of Materials.
  • Participate in project progress meetings and proactively identify and prioritize potential problems, and facilitate solutions among engineering, operations and client team members.
  • Serve as the main electrical and hydraulic technical contact for the client, sales department, production department, and service department for the assigned project.
  • Create specialized control system solutions for hydraulic drive systems including: design drawings, control sequence of operation descriptions and equipment operating procedures.
  • Support Sales/Marketing quotations by reviewing customer specifications for hydraulic power units and drive systems solutions and ensuring customer technical specifications/requirements are applicable.
  • Research and design hardware and software systems or enhancements for existing systems.
  • Travel to customer sites when necessary to facilitate new application design parameters and/or installation of equipment.
  • Travel Requirement: <10% per year

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the development and implementation of control systems, automation or other electro-mechanical devices
  • Must have at least 1+ year experience in project coordination

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics or power transmission
  • Conceptual understanding of hydraulic schematics, electrical schematics and GD&T
  • PLC or HMI programming a plus (Beckoff, Siemens, Allen Bradley)
  • Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) is a plus
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and 3D CAD
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Aptitude in multi-tasking/organizational skills
