Position Details:Â
In-Office, Redmond WA
Day Shift, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
- The hiring range for this role is typically between $37 and $45 per hour, with the full range extending to $53.40 per hour, based on experience, internal equity, and career progression
Primary Function:Â
The Engineering Technician III is responsible for performing advanced prototype assembly and test tasks, supporting troubleshooting and documentation efforts, and mentoring junior team members. This role requires minimal supervision and full ownership of task-level deliverables.Â
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:Â
Lead complex prototype builds involving electromechanical systemsÂ
Develop solutions to test and build challenges; escalate only unresolved issuesÂ
Conduct root-cause analysis and provide detailed reportingÂ
Build and improve test fixtures and proof-of-concept assembliesÂ
Support process improvement initiatives within the technician teamÂ
Train and guide Engineering Technician I/II personnelÂ
Ensure quality and timeliness of assigned workÂ
Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences. Â
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)Â
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferredÂ
5+ years hands-on experience in engineering or R&D supportÂ
Proficient with electrical and mechanical assembly, soldering (including fine-pitch), and lab test toolsÂ
Able to work from minimal documentation and contribute to its improvementÂ
Demonstrated mentoring, troubleshooting, and documentation skillsÂ
Strong working knowledge of prototyping standards and safety practicesÂ
IPC certification preferredÂ
Strong written and verbal English language communication skillsÂ
Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectivelyÂ
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work groupÂ
Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core ValuesÂ
Pass a post-offer background verificationÂ
Work Environment Â
Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
