Duties
Summary This position serves as a Lead Child and Youth Programs (CYP) Assistant or Leader. You will oversee developmentally appropriate programs that promote the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth of children and youth. You will provide team leadership, implement enriching curriculum, oversee inclusion compliance, and ensure strict safety standards within the facility. Duties Team Leadership and Mentoring Direct Staff Operations: Relay supervisor instructions, make daily activity assignments, and monitor staff-to-child ratios to adjust for breaks or absences. Train and Coach: Provide on-the-job training, model positive behavior techniques, and demonstrate proper childcare work methods to team members. Enforce Procedures: Explain program guidance, safety rules, fire regulations, and health/nutrition policies to staff. Monitor Performance: Assess team member performance, track progress, resolve simple complaints, and report training needs or concerns to the supervisor. Manage Facilities: Lead team members in preparing, arranging, and maintaining indoor and outdoor activity areas; ensure classrooms open and close on schedule. Curriculum and Programming Plan Activities: Develop and implement age-appropriate educational lesson plans and schedules based on child interests and observations. Differentiate Instruction: Modify daily activities to accommodate children requiring remedial help or showing advanced aptitudes. Build Partnerships: Act as a liaison with family members, local school districts, early education councils, and civic volunteer groups. Facilitate Transitions: Collaborate with specialists and schools to ensure smooth transitions for children aging up into new program brackets. Inclusion Oversight Accommodate Special Needs: Enforce special needs policies regarding medication administration, behavior management, and dietary restrictions. Execute Medical Plans: Administer routine and rescue medications following written medical action plans; record and report any reactions. Develop Support Plans: Use written observations to inform behavior support plans and collaborate with the Inclusion Action Team (IAT). Safety and Compliance Maintain Accountability: Actively supervise children during daily routines, indoor/outdoor play, field trips, and special events. Secure Facilities: Perform routine and impromptu safety checks of classrooms, playgrounds, and access points. Report Hazards: Identify signs of illness, distress, abuse, or neglect; execute mandated reporting protocols and emergency evacuations immediately. Enforce Regulations: Maintain operational knowledge of the Military Child Care Act, federal laws, and local safety standards

Spousal Preference applicants hired in a flexible position will not lose their spousal preference eligibility until converted or hired into a regular full-time or part-time position or is within a 60-day period of receiving new PCS Orders. Spousal Preference applicants must provide a copy of the PCS order identifying a spouse's authorized move and the sponsor's reporting date to the new duty location. If the spouse is not listed on the PCS orders, the spouse must provide documentation (i.e. marriage certificate, valid military ID, etc.) verifying marriage prior to PCS orders (must have been married to the military sponsor before relocation to the new duty station).
