Who are we looking for?
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Lead Maintenance Technician to support wastewater treatment and industrial operations associated with large-scale mining and environmental projects. This individual will serve as a technical lead for maintenance activities, helping ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of treatment systems, pumps, motors, pipelines, electrical equipment, and mechanical infrastructure. This position leads the maintenance staff, manages the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), coordinates subcontractors, and works closely with Operations and Site Management to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of the facility.
The ideal candidate will bring strong troubleshooting skills, industrial maintenance experience, and the ability to coordinate daily maintenance activities while maintaining a strong focus on safety and operational excellence.
In an exciting and diverse role, you will:
Direct and supervise maintenance mechanics, technicians, electricians, and maintenance contractors
- Lead and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities for wastewater treatment plant equipment and supporting infrastructure.
Manage the CMMS, including work orders, equipment records, maintenance schedules, inspection reports, and maintenance history
- Troubleshoot and repair pumps, motors, valves, conveyors, piping systems, electrical components, and process equipment.
- Assist with planning and prioritizing maintenance work to minimize downtime and maintain operational reliability.
- Support system inspections, equipment performance evaluations, and root cause analysis efforts.
- Coordinate with operations personnel to identify equipment issues and implement solutions.
Participate in root cause investigations and develop corrective actions for equipment failures and recurring maintenance issues.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspections, and work orders.
- Support equipment commissioning, startup, and shutdown activities.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and provide guidance to maintenance technicians and contractors.
- Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What you will bring to the team:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or trade certification preferred.
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably within wastewater treatment, mining, manufacturing, energy, heavy industrial, or process plant environments. Minimum 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience.
- Experience maintaining pumps, motors, rotating equipment, piping systems, and process equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and equipment documentation.
- Strong understanding of preventive maintenance programs and maintenance best practices.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead field maintenance activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting wastewater treatment facilities, mining operations, remediation projects, or industrial processing plants.
- Supervisory or crew lead experience.
- Electrical, instrumentation, or controls experience.
- CMMS experience (maintenance management systems).
- OSHA 10, OSHA 30, MSHA, or similar industrial safety training.
- Trade certification in mechanical, industrial maintenance, millwright, electrical, or related discipline.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in industrial and outdoor environments.
- Ability to climb ladders, work around treatment equipment, and access elevated platforms.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to travel and support field operations as required.
