Summary

You will serve as a Maintenance Worker Leader (Seasonal). This position is a working leader assigned responsibility for building and utility maintenance work. The position provides daily direction to at least 3 employees. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty is April-October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April-May 2027. Open to the first 75 applicants.

Duties

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: As a working leader performs and leads work in the following trades: carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, cement finishing, and masonry. Construct, install, repair and replace items such as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware. Paint various types of structures such as interior and exterior metal, wood and masonry surfaces, and a variety of wooden trim and new and old cabinets. Make independent judgments and decisions within the framework of instructions, accepted practices, and procedures. Follow and carry out assignments in accordance with established oral or written directions, or established policies and practices. Assemble appropriate materials and supplies necessary to complete daily work projects.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. You may be required to wear a uniform and comply with the uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You may be required to travel overnight away from home. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. Some positions at Saguro National Park will need a Tier 1 plus childcare background check.

Qualifications and evaluation

You will be evaluated on the following competencies and/or job elements: Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Ability To Lead Or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of materials Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Veterans' preference will be based solely on the claimed preference. Temporary Appointment: This is a temporary seasonal appointment not to exceed 1039 hours. The appointment is expected to end upon completion of the season's work. Frequently exposed to the potential risk of broken bones, shock, burns, cuts and bruises.
