Pumping Plant Mechanic Operator

Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Memphis District, Operations Division, Physical Support Branch, Pumping Plant Section. Duty Location: W.G. Huxtable Pumping Station, Marianna, Arkansas.

Duties

Performing preventive maintenance and repairs to mechanical and/or hydraulic systems. Operating automatic mechanical and hydraulic systems to pump water to specified water levels and quality. Diagnosing mechanical and/or hydraulic problems in order to replace or repair defective parts. Interpreting technical manuals to perform assembly and disassembly of mechanical/hydraulic pumping plant equipment. Operating hydraulic lifts, portable dewatering pumps, and electric air supply system compressors for pumping plant operations.

The pumping plant may be operated nights and weekends as well as weekdays. The incumbent may be required to work nights and/or weekends. Various protective devices such as safety shoes and glasses, gloves, and hard hats must be used. Position requires the ability to walk on and traverse uneven ground.
