Summary

As a Supervisory Equal Opportunity Investigator (Area Office Director) at the GS-1860-14, you will be part of the Office of Field Programs, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. If selected, you will serve as the Area Office Director with responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of the Area Office.

Duties

Plans, directs, coordinates, and monitors all enforcement and case development activities of the Area Office through unit supervisors and administrative staff. Provides leadership and direction to unit supervisors and/or administrative staff in conducting investigations of employment discrimination complaints filed under the statutes enforced by the Commission. Ensures that complaints/charges are properly assigned and are appropriately investigated in accordance with agency policy, procedure, and precedent. Reviews files for conformance with Commission policies and procedures and ensures appropriate application of the theories of employment discrimination laws and the overall adequacy of charge investigations. Ensures that settlements are negotiated, where appropriate, and that unit supervisors review compliance with the terms of negotiated settlements and conciliation agreements. Participates on the District Office Management Review Team, which is responsible for developing investigative strategy on highly complex and sensitive cases. Conducts periodic staff meetings to provide general advice and information to subordinates on the technical aspects of investigations. Represents the Commission in the assigned geographical area when communicating with public and private organizations and the general public.

Qualifications and evaluation
