Summary

As a Supervisory Equal Opportunity Investigator (Local Office Director), at the GS-1860-13, you will serve in the Office of Field Programs, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). If selected, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of the Local Office and will oversee the enforcement of federal equal employment opportunity laws.

Duties

Supervises and provides substantive technical and administrative guidance to a staff of investigators, investigator support assistants, and other support staff. Participates on management review teams, special program review projects, special investigative efforts, and in the design, development, and delivery of internal or external program training. Conducts periodic staff meetings to provide general advice and information to subordinates on the technical aspects of investigations, charge/complaint processing, and administrative responsibilities. Ensures that settlements are negotiated and that investigators review compliance with the terms of negotiated settlements and conciliation agreements. Participates with higher level managers in establishing procedures to ensure achievement of District and agency goals and objectives. Recommends changes in investigative and operational procedures to meet the agency's mission. Plans, directs, coordinates, and monitors all enforcement and case development activities of the Local Office. Assigns cases for investigation and analysis. Ensures that cases are investigated expeditiously, quality standards are maintained, and laws and applicable precedents are properly interpreted and applied. Reviews investigative files on an ongoing basis to ensure proper application of the theories of employment discrimination laws and that sufficient information has been obtained. Ensures that staff adheres to all EEOC guidelines, rules, regulations, orders, and precedents in the daily performance and completion of investigative duties and administrative functions.
