OVERVIEW
Director of Information Technology (IT Administrator) is responsible for the design, stability, security, and evolution of the firm’s IT infrastructure. This role provides firm-wide technical leadership and hands-on administration across cloud platforms, on-prem and hybrid systems, enterprise networking, and security. The person in this role is a proactive problem solver who can balance strategic planning with day-to-day operational support while adapting to an ever-changing technology landscape.Â
This position oversees and maintains the organization’s core technology environment, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Azure services, network infrastructure, firewalls, mobile device management, and endpoint platforms; leads system architecture decisions, ensuring high availability and security; and partners with leadership and vendors to procure and implement solutions that support business growth.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the firm’s information technology infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security across all systems and locations.
- Administer and optimize Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and associated security and compliance features.
- Manage Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), including identity governance, user lifecycle management, conditional access policies, and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Design, implement, and maintain Azure infrastructure, hybrid environments, and cloud-based services to support business continuity and growth.
- Lead network architecture, engineering, and maintenance activities, including switches, routers, wireless systems, and network segmentation.
- Configure, monitor, and maintain firewalls, VPN connections, and other network security controls to protect organizational data and systems.
- Oversee mobile device management (MDM) and endpoint management platforms for Windows, iOS, and related devices, including patch management and security updates.
- Ensure high system availability through proactive monitoring, routine maintenance, backup management, disaster recovery planning, and incident response coordination.
- Develop, implement, and enforce IT security policies, access controls, and data protection standards in alignment with industry best practices.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues, system outages, and cybersecurity incidents, providing timely resolution and communication.
- Evaluate, select, and manage technology vendors, including contract review, procurement processes, and performance oversight.
- Research and recommend technology solutions, upgrades, and innovations that align with organizational strategy and operational needs.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and enterprise technology rollouts with minimal business disruption.
- Maintain the company website(s).
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, network diagrams, and operational procedures to support continuity and knowledge transfer.
- Mentor and support junior IT staff, establishing service standards, workflows, and best practices for IT operations.
EDUCATION & SKILLS
This role requires at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information security, or related field; Master's degree is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Azure/M365, CompTIA Security+ or Network+, CISSP, CCNA/CCNP, or equivalent) strongly preferred. Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in systems administration, network engineering, and enterprise infrastructure management within hybrid or cloud environments, including leadership responsibility. Required experience includes Microsoft 365, Entra ID (Azure AD), Azure infrastructure, enterprise networking, firewalls, VPNs, endpoint security, and disaster recovery planning. Experience leading technology strategy, vendor management, infrastructure upgrades, cybersecurity initiatives, and mentoring technical staff in a professional services or multi-office environment is highly desirable. Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, and directly related experience will be considered.
