A Day in the Life

The Principal Financial Analyst, Service & Repair (S&R), serves as the finance lead supporting the operational and commercial performance of Medtronic’s global S&R business. Reporting to the S&R Financial Manager, this individual contributor role owns the S&R financial management rhythm, translating complex and fragmented inputs into clear performance insights and actionable recommendations that support forward-looking forecasts.

The role will partner closely with S&R operations, commercial leaders, regional finance teams, and functional stakeholders to improve visibility into revenue, expenses, profitability, investment returns, and key business drivers. The successful candidate will combine strong FP&A discipline with a practical continuous-improvement mindset. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the fast growing, global S&R business growing double digit topline/bottom line and on track to double revenue in 5 years.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned

  • Own and drive the S&R FP&A calendar, leading monthly close, forecasting, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), and Long-Range Planning (LRP) processes while establishing timelines, assumptions, governance, and accountability across stakeholders.

  • Consolidate, analyze, and interpret financial and operational results across regions and functions, proactively identifying performance drivers, emerging risks, growth opportunities, and actions required to deliver financial commitments.

  • Influence business decisions by partnering with operational and commercial leaders to develop revenue, pricing, volume, capacity, labor, expense, and margin forecasts, including scenario modeling and strategic trade-off analyses.

  • Lead financial evaluation and performance tracking of investments and transformation initiatives, ensuring capital deployment, project spending, resource planning, and benefit realization align with strategic objectives and financial commitments.

  • Deliver executive-level insights and recommendations that clearly articulate business performance, opportunities, and required actions to senior leadership.

  • Accelerate financial excellence by designing and implementing scalable reporting solutions, controls, templates, dashboards, and process improvements that increase transparency, efficiency, and decision-making effectiveness.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, challenging assumptions, influencing priorities, driving alignment, and elevating financial rigor across the organization.

  • Lead complex ad hoc analyses and strategic projects that unlock growth, improve profitability, and strengthen operational performance.

  • Adapt quickly to changing business needs, proactively identifying solutions and ensuring execution against evolving priorities.

  • Develop and continuously enhance standardized KPIs, dashboards, and financial reporting tools that increase visibility, accountability, and performance management across the S&R organization.

Required Qualifications:Ā Bachelor's degree and minimum 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, CPA, or CFA designation.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or related roles.

  • Demonstrated experience owning planning, forecasting, reporting, and variance-analysis processes for a complex business or function.

  • Intermediate financial modeling, business analysis, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize large and imperfect data sets.

  • Intermediate Excel skills and proficiency with financial systems and reporting tools such as SAP, Hyperion, OneStream, Anaplan, Power BI, or Tableau.

  • Proven ability to develop executive-ready presentations, performance narratives, and recommendations for senior stakeholders.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills in a global, matrixed environment.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, operate with urgency, and independently drive work through ambiguity.

  • Proven experience with embed AI-enabled analysis, automation, and reporting capabilities to support business needs

  • Experience with transfer pricing, cost allocation, chargeback, warranty, or profitability analysis.

  • Experience in MedTech, healthcare, manufacturing, or another regulated global organization.

  • Experience improving financial processes, reporting automation, or data governance.

  • Familiarity with AI-enabled productivity, analytics, or enterprise-search tools, such as Glean, and an ability to apply them responsibly in a finance environment.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$110,400.00 - $165,600.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
