THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: 103d Aircraft Maintenance Squadron (AMXS), East Granby, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the CTANG. Area 2: All currently employed full-time Temporary Technician personnel (Tenure 0) and all current traditional members of the CTANG Area 3: Individuals eligible for membership in the CTANG Membership must be satisfied within four (4) months of selection.
Duties
JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this purpose is to inspect, repair, modify, and service aircraft systems, components, and assemblies, both on- and off-aircraft. NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the Connecticut Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Performs inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to include periodic, phase, hourly, preflight, postflight, calendar, thru-flight, and special inspections such as fuel contamination, emergency equipment, and oil sampling. Troubleshoots and performs unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft, utilizing various gauges, meters, measuring devices and other related test equipment. May be required to perform user and organizational level maintenance on assigned support equipment, including inspection, repair, modification, and corrosion prevention. Provides data for aircraft maintenance historical records, complete maintenance data collection, man-hour accounting, and other forms as required. Instructs, directs, and assigns maintenance repair tasks to drill status guard members. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works indoors and outdoors in inclement weather on icy, wet, hot, and slippery ramps; aircraft surfaces, work stands, and ladders; and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from exposure to toxic fumes, dust, dirt, grease, lubricants, points, solvents, high pressure air and fluids; fast actuating aircraft surfaces such as speed brakes, flaps, and landing gear; engine noise, heat blast, and intake suction; rotating propellers; explosive munitions; electrical voltage; cartridge actuating devices; liquid oxygen; fire or explosion of aircraft fuels, etc. Frequent exposure to the possibility of cuts, burns, shock, strains and broken bones. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Requires moderate physical exertion when climbing, stooping, standing, bending, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Routinely required to objects weighing up to 20 pounds, occasionally may lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Primary Change of Station (PCS) relocation expenses will NOT be paid. For M-Day/Traditional personnel who are currently receiving incentives to include Bonuses and the Student Loan Repayment Program, the following termination rule applies: Incentive Termination without Recoupment: If you accept a Military Technician (Mil Tech) Permanent position where membership in the National Guard is a condition of employment, your bonus will be terminated with no recoupment as long as you have served at least 6 months of the bonus contract following receipt of the initial bonus payment.
