POSITION PURPOSE
The Estimator has full accountability for preparing accurate price bids for contracted United Uptime Services projects. He/She is responsible for the submission of final quotes for projects, sourcing subcontracted professionals and evaluating accuracy and efficiency of submitted bids once completed. This position requires excellent organizational skills, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Provides accurate quotes for contracted United Uptime projects based on cost of associated materials and labor needed to complete the job
- Complete pre and post bid assessments to determine accuracy of project estimate provided
- Sources and collaborates with subcontractors to determine materials, equipment, and labor needs associated with the completion of the project
- Develops a well-defined scope of work (SOW) to determine accurate estimates based on project
- Conducts research and creates project estimates using geo-tech reports, drawings, and site-specific intel to craft a well-rounded bid submission
- Compiles and evaluates submitted bids by subcontractors for validity, accuracy, and refinement
- Sources various quotes in the market for material and labor based on project needs
- Identifies all labor and material costs to define labor hours requirements by segment or units; based on a daily, weekly and monthly total labor hour per different phases of a project.
- Compiles and analyzes data to assess overall cost evaluation to be inclusive of company related surcharges and productivity percentage goals
- Conducts periodic risk assessments throughout a company project that could affect the accuracy of the job estimate
- Maintains integrity of files as documentation for estimate figures, including current and accurate information on prices from suppliers through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists.
- Making recommendations to improve pricing and timeline to completion, driving efficiency through cost reductions
- Collaborate with other United Uptime departments to provide accurate bid information
- Ensures compliance with company policies, industry standards, and contractual agreements
- Complies with all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the United Uptime team member and safety handbooks
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

- Ability to work through projects and drive out efficiencies

- Strong attention to details and high level of accuracy while maintaining short deadlines with data
- Compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying information or data.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to create solutions and solve problems
- Ability to read and analyze blueprints and other drawings as necessary
- Flexibility to work within a constantly changing work environment
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- High School diploma or equivalent needed
- 5-8 years of experience in project bidding
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent use of hands
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently, 50 pounds occasionally
- May work in extreme types of weather
