This role is a highly visible opportunity to work across manufacturing, engineering, quality, material, facilities, and program teams to turn launch requirements into coordinated plant execution.
The APLOM will help establish priorities, organize the launch team, drive cross-functional issue resolution, and maintain focus on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people development. The right candidate is comfortable leading through ambiguity, using facts to make decisions, and creating alignment across multiple functions and levels of the organization.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Co-lead plant launch-team meetings and daily wrap-up activities as needed.
Facilitate resolution of major plant issues by establishing containment, root cause, ownership, timing, and closure.
Maintain an integrated launch issue list with manufacturing and program leadership.
Support plant input to product and process changes and participate in virtual engineering and build-readiness activities.
Coordinate validation-build execution and help convert program build plans into executable plant plans.
Drive plant simulation and throughput reviews; identify constraints and ensure actions are assigned and completed.
Support manpower, staffing, training, facilities, communication, and resource plans for launch activities.
Help define, staff, and train plant issue teams for major launch events.
Support weekend-work-package planning and coordination of launch work across plant functions.
Coordinate launch readiness for quality reviews, dimensional checks, direct-run targets, and other plant deliverables.
Track pre-production resources, materials, and budget requirements.
Capture lessons learned and apply them to improve future launches
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
5+ years experience leading manufacturing, engineering, operations, or vehicle-launch work.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent relevant experience
Ability and willingness to work / rotate through all 3 shifts (1st, 2nd & 3rd)
Ability and willingness to work over-time, weekends, holidays, etc. as needed
Strong analytical ability and sound judgment when solving unusual or difficult problems.
Strong project-management, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions and with both salaried and hourly team members.
Ability to work onsite at Arlington Assembly and support extended hours or travel when launch needs require it.
What Can Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Experience with vehicle assembly and plant launch execution.
Knowledge of GM manufacturing systems, launch standards, and continuous-improvement practices.
Experience with plant simulation, line balancing, throughput improvement, ergonomics, error proofing, or quality-station readiness.
Experience developing launch-team training plans or leading plant issue teams.
Experience working with manufacturing engineering, product engineering, quality, material, and program leadership.
