The Opportunity
Our team in Abbott Core Lab works with our Manufacturing team located in Irving, Texas on site in the office. Our group is looking for a Business Intelligence Developer with specialized knowledge in Microsoft Power BI & Fabric Services. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems is often the first step in patient care decision-making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers. 

What You’ll Work On

The BI Developer will work within SLC procedures to gather requirements, design, develop, test, document and maintain business intelligence solutions for the manufacturing site.  The BI Developer will need to work with multiple data sources (i.e. Oracle, SQL Server, Excel, CSV, and cloud technologies) and they will be required to have strong SQL/Extraction skills for data retrieval and strong ETL/data modeling skills.

In addition:

  • Create and run ad hoc database queries to support business needs and decision-making.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate systems and improve data flow.

  • Gather and analyze business requirements, translating them into effective technical solutions.

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and relevant data is available for reporting and analytics.

  • Evaluate reporting needs and determine the best Power BI solutions to meet business objectives.

  • Design Power BI prototypes and lead review sessions with business stakeholders.

  • Educate users on reporting and business intelligence capabilities and best practices.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation.

  • Manage the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of Power BI reports and dashboards.

  • Validate data accuracy through testing, quality checks, and established validation processes.

  • Deliver reliable, user-friendly dashboards and visualizations that support business performance and strategic goals.

Required Qualifications

  • A technical bachelor’s degree and 2+ years in MS Power BI modelling (M code), Dax, data storytelling, and knowledge of how people make decisions with data.

  • Must have advanced level SQL programming and data visualization skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more years background in data warehouse design (e.g., dimensional modeling) and data mining

  • An understanding of RDBMS databases such SQL Server and Oracle.

  • In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework

  • Hands-on experience in creating and deploying KPI, analytic, and dashboard solutions including design, development, deployment, data engineering, data warehousing, and data management projects and practices.

  • Good verbal and written communication and negotiation skills.

  • Data engineering, analytics and systems subject matter expert on ERP and Manufacturing systems

  • Performance tuning stored procedures and ETL processes

  • Excellent in analytical thinking for translating data into informative visuals and reports

The base pay for this position is

$61,300.00 – $122,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
