The Senior Quality Manager will serve as the Quality Director for the Upstate NY Business. They will provide strategic leadership and oversight of Gilbane’s Quality program across its regional portfolio of projects, ensuring consistent compliance with contract requirements, building standards, and Gilbane’s enterprise quality practices. Serving as the functional leader for QC personnel and project quality management regionally, this role oversees Quality staffing and qualifications, project-specific Quality management plans, audits, corrective actions, performance metrics, and the development and training of Quality Managers supporting projects globally.

Responsibilities
- Lead the regional quality community of practice, fostering a culture of quality, continuous improvement, accountability, and technical excellence across projects.
- Serve as point of contact with the Division on QA/QC best practices, lessons learned, questions, topics and issues. Establish and maintain a regional lessons-learned process, ensuring successful practices, recurring risks, and technical knowledge are communicated across projects and incorporated into future planning and execution
- Serve as Functional leader of Quality personnel in a matrix organization serving projects regionally, assigning only qualified individuals to projects as required; including vetting proposed Quality Management personnel assignments to ensure contract qualifications are met.
- Participate in project pursuit, preconstruction, and startup activities to identify project-specific quality risks, staffing needs, contractual obligations, and quality program requirements. Collaborate with operations, procurement, and trade partners to improve supplier and subcontractor quality performance.
- Assist project teams in developing project-specific Quality Management Plans that comply with contract requirements and Gilbane enterprise standards. Provide training and coaching to project teams on the Quality Management Plan to ensure functional comprehension.
- Identify and escalate significant project quality risks, emerging trends, and systemic program weaknesses to regional and enterprise leadership, providing recommendations for mitigation and resolution
- Manage and maintain a robust Quality Audit program for regional projects working in conjunction with the Operational Excellent team; Lead regional corrective and preventive action (CAPA) efforts, including root cause analysis of significant quality events, recurring deficiencies, customer concerns, and audit findings.
- Review and approve project-specific Quality Management Plans; including establishing Quality Program early start-up and close-out processes and monitoring metrics. Develop, maintain, and communicate regional quality performance metrics and dashboards, including trends related to inspections, deficiencies, rework, audits, corrective actions, turnover quality, and customer satisfaction
- Interface with Business Unit and Operations Management on Quality needs and program implementation
- Coordinate with the Enterprise Quality Director to align regional quality initiatives, performance metrics, training programs, and enterprise standards
- Coordinate and conduct onboarding and training for project Quality Managers.
- Work with Global Quality Director and the internal Gilbane University team to create training material to incorporate Enterprise’s operational procedures and software tools to the existing quality program.
- Travel to construction projects to perform assessments as required
- Serve as the Quality Director on a mega project on an as needed basis.
- Up to 50% travel
Qualifications
- A graduate of a four-year accredited college or university program in one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or Building Science. Alternative experience and education will be considered.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the industry, with at least ten (10) years of quality management leadership experience.
- Demonstrable technical subject matter expertise in one or more major construction disciplines (e.g., MEP, Commissioning, Structural, Civil, Building Envelope, Life Safety, other).
- Proficiency in using, understanding, interpreting, and explaining building codes, standards, and other common industry references.
- Proficiency in contract language and related risk management.
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification as Quality Auditor or Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, and/or Valid USACE/NAVFAC Construction
- Quality Management for Contractors training certification is a plus.

- Proficiency in Procore; Autodesk Construction Cloud proficiency a plus.
- Advanced experience and knowledge of construction process and documentation – Drawings and specifications.

Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team. For Upstate NY, this ranges from $150,000.00-$200,000.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
