VMware and Windows Server Administrator

Responsibilities

Peraton is looking for an experienced VMware and Windows Server Administrator to provide operational support for the customer’s enterprise environment. This role provides daily operational and project support for the customer’s Windows server and VMware environment.

Position is 8-5 ET and requires participating in a 24/7 on-call schedule.

• Evaluate, recommend, and implement changes to existing technologies and new technologies relevant to meeting the strategic and tactical plans of the organization. 
• Maintain virtualization infrastructure including provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, automation, and maintenance of systems, hardware, software, and related infrastructure.
• Maintain stability of environment by performing regularly scheduled maintenance (hardware/software) patching and upgrades.
• Responsible for compliance of all assigned hardware, equipment, and configurations

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 

• 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 12 with a HS diploma.
• Hands-on experience with complete compute infrastructure supporting physical, virtual (VMware), and cloud (public, hybrid) compute environments, with equivalent experience providing operational support for virtualized environments using VMware vSphere.
• Hands-on experience with Windows Server Operating Systems.  
• Demonstrated experience using VMware vSphere, Windows OS, and VMware vRealize Suite.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for supported systems.
• Strong cross-functional troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication skills; role requires professional collaboration with the customer and other service providers.
• 8 years of hands-on PowerShell scripting experience, including automation of administrative tasks, infrastructure provisioning, and systems management in Windows and VMware environments.
• Experience using ServiceNow or other ticketing systems
• Must be a US Citizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

• Work experience with storage, network technologies, connectivity, protocols, and security.
• Experience with HCI platforms (e.g., VMware vSAN, Nutanix) and familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, VMWare Tanzu).
• Experience in a federal or regulated industry environment, with familiarity with FISMA, NIST 800-53, STIGs or FedRAMP compliance frameworks.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., vRealize Operations, SolarWinds, Splunk).
• Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or Azure Administrator, or CompTIA Security+.
• Mature professional, highly motivated, self-starter with clear verbal and written communication skills.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
