Automation & AIOps Lead (TX DIR)

Responsibilities

Peraton is hiring for an Automation & AIOps Lead to support the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) — State of Texas. The Automation & AIOps Lead will provide technical leadership for infrastructure automation, DevOps/MLOps, AIOps, AI/ML operations, observability, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ServiceNow integration, and enterprise automation capabilities supporting the Texas Private Cloud program.

The Automation & AIOps Lead will drive automation and AI-enabled operations across the program, with responsibility for the Enterprise Control Plane (ECP), Peraton[x]™ agent platform, AIOps telemetry, zero-touch infrastructure provisioning, ServiceNow integrations, AI governance, automation savings validation, and service evolution.

The ideal candidate must be located in the Austin, TX metropolitan area (or San Angelo, TX as applicable)

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as the WP-6 primary owner for Peraton[x]™ and the Optional AI Platform.
• Drive agentic operations from transition, including GPU Resource Units (RUs) and NIST AI RMF-governed operations.
• Lead Enterprise Control Plane (ECP) engineering, deployment, and operations.
• Drive labor-to-software conversion supporting the targeted ~21% FTE reduction over five years.
• Manage the Annual Automation Plan, identified as a contractual deliverable in the proposed approach, including the $10K/month late credit if absent.
• Lead operations for the Peraton[x]™ agent family, including:
• Predictive Intelligence
• Digital Twin
• AI-Orchestrated Operations
• Continuous Risk & Compliance
• AI-Powered PMO
• Natural-Language Access
• Lead Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipeline delivery supporting zero-touch provisioning using:
• Terraform
• Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP)
• GitLab CI
• Manage the AIOps telemetry pipeline, including:
• Splunk ITSI
• Dynatrace Davis AI
• Prometheus
• Grafana
• OpenTelemetry
• Support ServiceNow pre-built MSI accelerators and schema-validated flows.
• Manage auto-provisioning accuracy, identified as an SLA-weighted area and primary credit-risk exposure.
• Support AI governance using the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF) for Peraton[x]™ and the AI Platform.
• Lead automation savings reconciliation and validation for the DIR rate glide path.
• Manage Kafka/Avro CI synchronization.
• Manage REST/JSON IntegrationHub integrations.
• Manage and support ServiceNow CSDM flows.
• Report directly to the Technical Director.
• Co-own the Application Architecture domain, including ECP modules IF-1 through IF-7.
• Drive continuous improvement and evolution of enterprise automation, AIOps, observability, AI-enabled operations, and infrastructure management.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree and 8 years of experience or 12 years with a HS Diploma.
• 8+ years of infrastructure automation and DevOps/MLOps engineering experience.
• Terraform proficiency is required.
• Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) proficiency required.
• GitLab CI/CD pipeline engineering experience required.
• Experience with AIOps platform operations, including:
• Splunk ITSI
• Dynatrace Davis AI
• Equivalent AIOps platforms
• Experience with ML forecasting for capacity management and SLA breach prediction.
• Experience with ServiceNow integration/development, including:
• IntegrationHub
• CSDM
• ITOM
• Experience with AI/ML operations, including NVIDIA AI Enterprise, OpenShift, and GPU scheduling, preferred.
• NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF) familiarity preferred.
• Government IT automation experience is a plus.
• Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure automation and automated service delivery.
• Experience operating in complex enterprise IT environments.
• Strong DevOps, MLOps, AIOps, automation, integration, and operational engineering skills.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance.
• Must be a US Citizen.

Target Salary Range

$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
