What isĀ GraduateĀ ResearcherĀ Program?Ā
The GRP (GraduateĀ ResearcherĀ Program) is aĀ uniqueĀ 10-12 weekĀ internship programĀ designedĀ specificallyĀ for students pursuing their PhD.Ā GRP is a hybrid experience of real-world industry work experience combined with development programming that exposes students to Boeing, its products,Ā servicesĀ and its people.Ā Ā GRP focuses on deeply connecting students to their teamĀ and BoeingĀ through work experience across multiple summersĀ with theĀ goalĀ ofĀ ultimatelyĀ offeringĀ a full-time position at the conclusion of academic studiesĀ if a mutual fit is achieved.Ā Ā Ā
HowĀ GRPĀ Works:Ā
GRP host teamsĀ postĀ intern requisitionsĀ aligned with Boeingās strategic needs, aiming to matchĀ their needsĀ with top PhD talent. Once candidates apply and are selected, they receive an offer to spend the following summer working with their host team. The program is designed to give interns meaningful, hands-on experience at Boeing, allowing them to apply their academicĀ expertiseĀ while contributing to real-world industry challenges and opportunities.Ā
In addition toĀ industryĀ workĀ exposure, students attend GRP programming toĀ furtherĀ broadenĀ their experience andĀ knowledgeĀ ofĀ Boeing.Ā Ā GRP programmingĀ componentsĀ include:Ā Ā mentorship in your field of study,Ā weeklyĀ Featured Speaker Talks, a week-long in-personĀ GRP Summit,Ā participation in anĀ Innovation Challenge,Ā and other opportunities toĀ interact and build a professional networkĀ withĀ other GRP students, Boeing team members,Ā andĀ BoeingĀ leadership.Ā

2027Ā GRP Position:Ā
The Engineering and Technology Innovation Computational Fluid Dynamics Group is looking for an Aerodynamics Engineering intern to join the team in St. Louis, Missouri. The Computational Fluid Dynamics group develops and applies advanced aerodynamic analysis tools and processes to a wide variety of flight platforms across the speed range ranging from low-speed/high-lift to supersonic flight. The products and services of this group cover the complete product life cycle of Boeing's commercial and militaryĀ aircraftĀ and advanced vehicle concepts.Ā
The role will involve enhancing an internal CFD code to include more time-dependent modeling effects, both in terms of fluids and multi-disciplinary analysis. Efforts to increase efficiency of the aerodynamic simulation process or to benchmark current capabilities may also be performed. This work will involve collaboration with both code developers and application engineers.Ā
This position is expected to be 100% onsite.Ā The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a āU.S. Personā as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required.Ā āU.S. Personā includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Pursing a PhD inĀ Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field of studyĀ
Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2027
Experience in development of aerodynamic analysis and optimization tools and processes with the goal of increasing fidelity while reducing cycle time and cost.Ā Ā Ā Ā
Experience with compressible flows and turbulence modeling.Ā
Fundamental knowledge of computational fluid dynamics.Ā
Background in range of numerical methods appropriate for unstructured grid CFD.Ā
